E-Research teaches students how to become both active practitioners and informed consumers of Net-based research, its tools, and its techniques. E-Research takes the learner through the complete research process from problem formulation, through literature review, ethics approval, quantitative and qualitative data gathering and analysis, to dissemination and publication. This text is written in clear, nontechnical language with educational research examples, illustrating how each of these components of the research process changes in a Net-enabled context. Every professional is obliged to understand and, in most cases, master the use of tools of their trade even when those tools are undergoing rapid evolution. E-Research is not a research methods text. Rather, it begins where standard methdology texts end, by focusing on when and how to use the Internet to enhance the research process.

No less than a revolutionary transformation of the research enterprise is underway. This transformation extends beyond the natural sciences, where 'e-research' has become the modus operandi, and is penetrating the social sciences and humanities, sometimes with differences in accent and label. Many suggest that the very essence of scholarship in these areas is changing. The everyday procedures and practices of traditional forms of scholarship are affected by these and other features of e-research. This volume, which features renowned scholars from across the globe who are active in the social sciences and humanities, provides critical reflection on the overall emergence of e-research, particularly on its adoption and adaptation by the social sciences and humanities.

E Research In Educational Contexts written by Jocelyn Wishart and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-03 with Education categories.

This book explores the impact of e-research in education and the opportunities presented by a new generation of research approaches and tools. ‘E-research’ is an umbrella term that encompasses all digital research methods used for data collection and analysis including those involving handheld mobile devices. This is a current concern as the emergence of online tools that enable people to collaborate, create, and share information has led to the widespread use of these new digital research methods. Indeed, new tools and technologies are emerging almost daily and are being taken up by researchers for their ease of data collection and analysis. As a result the book investigates the implications of how we conceptualise educational research in the digital age. In addressing a range of key themes, from the ethics of e-research to the relationships between researchers and participants, the book presents original studies from a variety of educational contexts where digital tools are being used, and should be of value to postgraduate students, academic researchers, and policy makers. This book was originally published as a special issue of the International Journal of Research & Method in Education.

Advances in information and communication technologies (ICT) make it easier to access, diffuse, communicate and manipulate large quantities of data, information and knowledge. To maintain our place at the forefront of our endeavours, Australian researchers need to respond to the enabling potential of advances in ICT. The e-Research Committee identified seven key issues to fully enable e-Research in Australia: human capabilities; access to data; need for linkage of e-Research resources; structural and cultural change; lack of awareness and support; need for a focus; and more collaboration in research. Key strategic directions are also proposed to address these issues and facilitate faster take-up of e-Research methodologies in Australia. [Summary, ed]
