Przeciwstawne narracje prezentują określone perspektywy aksjologiczne, skrywające interesy grupowe, tym samym koncentrują się na odmiennych aspektach opisywanej rzeczywistości. prof. dr hab. Tadeusz Klementewicz Książka Marcina Poletyły jest niezwykła, bezprecedensowa w naszej literaturze. Autor podjął się analizy dyskursu towarzyszącego tzw. nowym wojnom, do których dochodzi po zakończeniu zimnej wojny. To wojny nietradycyjne, w których często nie ma podziału na agresora i ofiarę, ale jednak są działania wojenne, ofiary, zniszczenia. Trzeba je jakoś uzasadnić, także wtedy, gdy siły używa się w dobrej wierze (były takie przypadki), bo wojny toczą też kraje demokratyczne, w których opinii publicznej nie można ignorować. Podejmuje się próby jej formowania, by uzyskać przychylność dla wojny, która nie jest prowadzona w obronie własnej. Autor nie miał już szansy uwzględnić najnowszej wojny Rosji, ale jego wcześniejsze ustalenia i tu się dobrze odnajdują. Jestem pełen uznania dla erudycji i wnikliwości Marcina Poletyły.
