Research in the multimedia field has profited from that spread of computer technology, which had an effect on the way knowledge is transmitted Computer education is now a reality, but needs further development Allowing teachers to develop multimedia applications to use in the course curriculum, and giving them access to the world of data within their software is an area of active it'seauli This document describes research work I have conducted at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the American University of Beirut (AUB) as part of a joint AUB-MIT project. The project involved work on the AthenaMuse 2 multimedia authoring system as well as the use of AthenaMuse 2 to build a multimedia application, in that case, a language learning application that teaches Spanish Language learning lends itself to the use of the computer, because of the communication and the media capabilities of computers On the other hand, using object-oriented technology allows computer programmers to build on previous work, thus allowing for flexibility and speed in the design and implementation of multimedia software. The work conducted on AthenaMuse 2 is a proof-of-concept in how the new generation of multimedia authoring systems allows for rapid development of educational software. The contribution to the field of networked object-oriented multimedia is presented throughout this present document.
