This groundbreaking text in instructional leadership and supervision continues to challenge and reshape the conventional purposes, practices, structure, and language of supervision. The text's emphases on school culture, teachers as adult learners, developmental leadership, democratic education, and collegial supervision have helped redefine the meaning of supervision and instructional leadership. The Eighth Edition continues the book's trend-setting tradition by placing instructional leadership and school improvement within a community and societal context; providing new examples of direct assistance, professional development, and action research; and presenting an entire new chapter, "Supervision for What? Democracy and the Good School." Building on the success of previous editions, the Eighth Edition addresses hot issues such as school improvement, constructivist teaching, professional development, Chaos Theory, and state-mandated standards. This is a resource that students purchase, use in class, and reference throughout their careers as education leaders.

Team building is a philosophy of job design in which employees are viewed as members of interdependent teams instead of as individual workers. Team building (which is correctly spelled with two words)[citation needed] refers to a wide range of activities, presented to businesses, schools, sports teams, religious or nonprofit organizations designed for improving teamperformance. According to Dyer in 2007, team building was originally a group process intervention aimed at improving interpersonal relations and social interactions and has developed to include achieving results, meeting goals, and accomplishing tasks. Team building is pursued via a variety of practices, and can range from simple bonding exercises to complex simulations and multi-day team building retreats designed to develop a team (including group assessment andgroup-dynamic games), usually falling somewhere in between. It generally sits within the theory and practice oforganizational development, but can also be applied to sports teams, school groups, and other contexts. Team building is not to be confused with "team recreation" that consists of activities for teams that are strictly recreational. Team building can also be seen in day-to-day operations of an organization and team dynamic can be improved through successfulleadership. Team building is said to have benefits of self-development, positive communication, leadership skills and the ability to work closely together as a team to solve problems. Team building focuses on four methods that effect the unit : role clarification, interpersonal relationship management, goal setting, and problem solving.Work environments tend to focus on individuals and personal goals, with reward & recognition singling out the achievements of individual employees. Team building can also refer to the process of selecting or creating a new team.

Behavior in Organizations, 8/e, by Shani and Lau, is a paperback text that takes a hands-on, experiential approach to organization behavior. The majority of the exercises, role-playing simulations, and cases were developed in and for management training workshops. The cases themselves represent different industries and organizations around the globe with diverse size, product, service, and cultures. Instructors appreciate the multiple interactive teaching methods for each teaching module. Experiential methods provide a powerful stimulus for learning, growth, and change by helping participants focus on their own behaviors and reactions as data. The text begins with structured, less personal exercises that are readily recognized as relevant to human effectiveness in organizational settings. Personal growth and self-understanding activities are introduced later in the text, after students have had enough experience to become more comfortable and ready for them.
