Intellectual Capital Revisited written by Cristina Chaminade and has been published by Edward Elgar Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Business & Economics categories.

This book brings together some of the founders of the IC movement in Europe to critically review the virtues and shortcomings of intellectual capital as a managerial concept. More questions on the future of IC study are perhaps raised than answered as the contributors attempt to open new avenues of research. The contributors acknowledge that the concept of managing intellectual capital is paradoxical in many respects. First and foremost, the boundaries of the knowledge intensive organization are fading. Organizations are open, networked and global, and intellectual capital mobile and elusive - so how can something with no boundaries be managed? Furthermore, is it possible that in a knowledge-intensive society, firms that do not focus on their intellectual capital are successful? That is, are there any pre-requisites for intellectual capital to be relevant? The book explores such paradoxes in the knowledge intensive organization, critically discusses the limitations of intellectual capital and revises the agenda for intellectual capital studies in the future. Drawing on empirical evidence including two EU funded projects involving researchers, practitioners and policy makers from international associations such as the OECD and the EU, this book will prove a thought provoking read for those with an interest in various aspects of management such as: knowledge management, management control, management accounting, strategic management and management of innovation.

Expert witnesses in the fields of valuation and economics may well be faced with challenges to the admissibility of their testimony, based on how well it measures up to the application of the "scientific method." Professionals will benefit from the juxtaposition of the Daubert principles and the traditional methods for developing valuation and damages opinions.

Design And Implementation Of A Human Capital Oriented Balanced Scorecard In An Engineering Services Unit written by Uwe Eigenmann and has been published by GRIN Verlag this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-07-15 with Business & Economics categories.

Master's Thesis from the year 2005 in the subject Leadership and Human Resources - Miscellaneous, grade: 2,3, University of Applied Sciences Ludwigshafen, language: English, abstract: Abstract The utilization of employees often is the only measure for success of engineering services units. The question how many days of paid services can be billed to a customer is so dominant that other aspects are completely neglected. However, focusing on maximizing just one, financial, value – revenue by employee - might not be sufficient to guarantee sustainable success. The aim of this dissertation is to develop a management instrument for an engineering services unit based on the balanced scorecard approach. Even though the value of human capital often receives only little attention, employees are the key differentiator of an enterprise. The knowledge, experience and attitude of people can not easily be copied by competitors. Since human capital’s contribution to business success is difficult to measure, it often plays no role in management systems. This situation can only change if the value of human capital can be determined and represented. The term “human capital” is explained in more detail in the first part of this work. What is human capital and why is it becoming increasingly important? Several approaches to determining human capital are described and analysed. In the second part of this work, a Balanced Scorecard is developed on a step-by-step basis for an engineering services unit. Particular attention is paid to the human capital aspect. However, the purpose of this work is not to develop a scorecard that serves only to assess and control human capital variables. Examples of such dedicated Balanced Scorecards are the HR-Scorecard and the Human Capital Management Scorecard. However, these Scorecards may complement the traditional Scorecard, but cannot replace it. They are focused on human resource figures only and thus are not linked with other measures, such as financial indicators. The Balanced Scorecard to be developed for the engineering services unit should reflect the strategy of the business unit. The idea is to use this Balanced Scorecard as a management tool in future. Therefore the Balanced Scorecard design will follow the traditional approach but put special emphasis on human capital.

Early Stage Technologies written by Richard Razgaitis and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999-10-08 with Business & Economics categories.

Comprehensive coverage of the issues, methods, and art of valuing and pricing early-stage technologies To develop or not to develop; to license or not to license; what price will be a true reflection of the product's value from both the buyer's and seller's point of view? These questions are crucial to companies dependent on intellectual property-particularly technology companies, universities, and biotech companies. The risks associated with early-stage technology are high, and decisions must often be made years before any potential product will reach the market. In Early-Stage Technologies: Valuation and Pricing, Richard Razgaitis presents TR-R-A-DE(TM), a comprehensive approach to determining the future of new technologies based on technology rights, risk assignment, the art of deal-making, and deal economics. He considers the key components involved in a licensing transaction, offers a detailed presentation of six valuation methods for intellectual property, examines risk in both quantitative and qualitative terms, and explores the negotiation strategy and structuring of agreements that are the keys to the art of technology rights deal-making. Early-Stage Technologies is an indispensable tool for anyone involved in the development, valuation, and licensing of intellectual property, the most valuable resource and driving force of the information age.
