Intelligent Notification Systems written by Abhinav Mehrotra and has been published by Morgan & Claypool Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-01-03 with Computers categories.
Notifications provide a unique mechanism for increasing the effectiveness of real-time information delivery systems. However, notifications that demand users' attention at inopportune moments are more likely to have adverse effects and might become a cause of potential disruption rather than proving beneficial to users. In order to address these challenges a variety of intelligent notification mechanisms based on monitoring and learning users' behavior have been proposed. The goal of such mechanisms is maximizing users' receptivity to the delivered information by automatically inferring the right time and the right context for sending a certain type of information. This book presents an overview of the current state of the art in the area of intelligent notification mechanisms that rely on the awareness of users' context and preferences. We first present a survey of studies focusing on understanding and modeling users' interruptibility and receptivity to notifications from desktops and mobile devices. Then, we discuss the existing challenges and opportunities in developing mechanisms for intelligent notification systems in a variety of application scenarios.

Integrating Psychoinformatics With Ubiquitous Social Networking written by Felix Beierle and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-23 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book deepens the understanding of people through smartphone data obtained via mobile sensing and applies psychological insights for social networking applications. The author first introduces TYDR, an application for researching smartphone data and user personality. A novel, structured privacy model for mobile sensing applications is developed and the obtained empirical results help researchers gauge what data they can expect users to share in daily-life studies. The new research findings, the concept of mobile sensing, and psychological insights about the formation and structure of real-life social networks are integrated into the field of social networking. Finally, for this novel integration, the author presents concepts, decentralized software architectures, and fully realized prototypes that recommend new contacts, media, and locations to individual users and groups of users.

Sensor Data Understanding written by Marcin Grzegorzek and has been published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017 with Computers categories.
The rapid development in the area of sensor technology has been responsible for a number of societal phenomena like UGC (User Generated Content) or QS (Quantified Self). Machine learning algorithms benefit a lot from the availability of such huge volumes of digital data. For example, new technical solutions for challenges caused by the demographic change (ageing society) can be proposed in this way, especially in the context of healthcare systems in industrialised countries. The goal of this book is to present selected algorithms for Visual Scene Analysis (VSA, processing UGC) as well as for Human Data Interpretation (HDI, using data produced within the QS movement) and to expose a joint methodological basis between these two scientific directions. While VSA approaches have reached impressive robustness towards human-like interpretation of visual sensor data, HDI methods are still of limited semantic abstraction power. Using selected state-of-the-art examples, this book shows the maturity of approaches towards closing the semantic gap in both areas, VSA and HDI.

Radar For Indoor Monitoring written by Moeness Amin and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-09-14 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book aims to capture recent advances and breakthroughs in in-home radar monitoring of human motions and activities. It addresses three key attributes of radar for in-door human monitoring, namely: motion classification including fall, detection of vital signs, and categorization of human gait for risk assessment and progression of physical impairments and disabilities. It explores recent developments in radar technology for human monitoring inside homes and residences. The reader will learn enhanced detection and classification techniques of radar signals associated with human micro- and macro-motions. Furthermore, the book includes examples using real data collected from healthy individuals, patients, and retirement communities based on the subject Doppler and range information, and using different single and multi-antenna radar system configurations. Results are also presented using modeled data based on biomechanics and kinematics. Indoor monitoring is further demonstrated using alternative technologies of infrared sensors and RF signals of opportunities.
