Scientists claim that they cannot understand the Einstein theory of relativity without the contribution made by Hermann Minkowski which equates space to time, but the author thinks the Minkowski theory is logically flawed and even unworthy of being mentioned in the same breath as relativity, and therefore calls it "Dream Physics". He points out that Professor Sir Arthur Eddington and Bertrand Russell described the Minkowski theory as fictitious and arbitrary. Instead, the author argues that the original Einstein theory of time was his greatest achievement, and shows how the ancient problems of the passage and continuity of (or perpetual) time can be easily resolved.

“What Bodanis does brilliantly is to give us a feel for Einstein as a person. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that does this as well . . . Whenever there’s a chance for storytelling, Bodanis triumphs.” —Popular Science “Fascinating.” —Forbes Widely considered the greatest genius of all time, Albert Einstein revolutionized our understanding of the cosmos with his general theory of relativity and helped lead us into the atomic age. Yet in the final decades of his life, he was ignored by most working scientists, and his ideas were opposed by even his closest friends. How did this happen? Best-selling biographer David Bodanis traces the arc of Einstein’s life—from the skeptical, erratic student to the world’s most brilliant physicist to the fallen-from-grace celebrity. An intimate biography in which “theories of the universe morph into theories of life” (Times, London), Einstein’s Greatest Mistake reveals what we owe Einstein today—and how much more he might have achieved if not for his all-too-human flaws.

A "beautifully written" (David Fideler) spiritual biography of Albert Einstein that reveals for the first time the scientific and religious origins of his personal philosophy — "a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the mind of the great physicist" (Jo Marchant) Albert Einstein remains renowned around the world for revolutionizing our understanding of the cosmos, but very few realize that the celebrated scientist had a deep spiritual side. Einstein believed that one wondrous force was woven through all things everywhere—and this sense of the pervasive sacred influenced every aspect of his existence, from his marvelous science to his passionate pacifism. I Am a Part of Infinity offers the first in-depth exploration of Einstein’s spirituality, showing how he drew on a dazzling diversity of thinkers—from Pythagoras to Plato, Schopenhauer to Spinoza, the Upanishads to Mahatma Gandhi—to create a novel system where mysticism met mathematics, reality was revered, and the human mind was honored as a mirror of the infinite. This wasn’t just a new way of seeing the world. Einstein asked us to commune with the cosmos, to treat every living creature with compassion, to channel the power that permeated all things and put it to use for pure purposes. Drawing on little-known conversations, recently published letters, and new archival research, I Am a Part of Infinity reveals what Einstein really believed and why his perspective still matters today.

Seminar paper from the year 2018 in the subject Philosophy - Philosophy of the present, grade: 95.5, American Public University System, language: English, abstract: Communication between scientists and the public is strained. On one side, scientists are not writing for the lay reader nor making it a priority to disseminate the latest discoveries among average readers; and on the other side, the public is frustrated and distrustful of science’s ever-changing nature, and humans have psychologically evolved to reject information that does not line up with their beliefs. Planck and Einstein & Infeld address these issues and attempt to bridge the gap in communication between scientists and the public. A close reading of the primary texts shows that the physicists achieved their goal of writing for the layman. Consulting secondary sources such as Tyson’s "Astrophysics for People in a Hurry" and Greene’s "The Elegant Universe" reveals that the science contained in the primary texts is accepted in the modern picture of physics. An article on the communications gap written by Philip Hunter provides insight into the issues between science writers and the public, and Hunter presents tips on bridging the gap, which Planck, Einstein and Infeld appear to have inherently known. The three physicists address the layman in an attempt to bridge the communication gap between themselves and their peers and the public, and although Einstein and Infeld created a more user-friendly science guide, both texts cover important topics, which are still accepted in physical science, making them vital sources of historical, philosophical, and scientific information.
