In this book, Dr Zepinic provides a theoretical and practical concept of the complex trauma impact upon personality (the self). This book will contribute for better diagnostic and clinical therapy for those who have been victims of horrible traumatic experience (war, rape, terrorism, violence, etc.) which often affect the victim's personality for the entire life. The book has two major goals: (1) to provide comprehensive knowledge about the trauma impact upon the victim's self, and (2) to initiate better understanding of the therapeutic needs for one's traumatised self, as complex traumatic experience alters the trauma survivor's capacity to cope with everyday living and destruct the identity of the self. Traumatic events overwhelm the ordinary human adaptations to life and generally involve threats to life or bodily integrity, leading to victim's 'self-at-worst'.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is debilitating. Life seems to be on hold. Accomplishing the smallest of tasks takes all the stamina you can muster. Without treatment the symptoms get worst. Many suffer in silence. They simply don't have the energy or will power to leave the house and face the public to attend therapy appointments for help with their PTSD. That is where books come in handy. You can work on your healing in the privacy of your own home. I've written this book to help you on your road to recovery. I've written this book in an easy to follow format without a lot of unnecessary medical jargon. I've written this book precise and to the point to make it easy to read in one sitting so you will be able to apply the strategies I've shared right away. This book was written to help all those struggling to overcome Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and problems surrounding PTSD. It is human nature to dream. When we go to sleep at night, we dream of things only our brains could scope out. And as it is usual to dream, it is also usual to day dream. Day dreaming is different from dreaming in the sense that all outside stimuli can directly affect what goes on in your daydream, sounds, scents, what the wind feels like. But imagine what life would be like if you had constant and unending nightmares instead of dreams? Nightmares that are vivid and complete in all their lucidity. And even worse, if you were seeing these nightmares as day dreams in waking life and will all the accompaniment of sound, scents, and feeling that may not be to your benefit. Post-traumatic stress disorder, depending on any specific person, may be triggered by absolutely anything and these triggers when outside in society cannot exactly be predicated to happen or fully avoided. Post-traumatic stress disorder can be very difficult to deal with as it chooses neither time nor place and is caused by deep rooting trauma which may be far gone and hard to get rid of. This book contains proven steps and strategies on how to fully understand the prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder, its causes, symptoms, and tests to diagnose its inhabitance in a person. This book also includes a list of treatment options in order to make the reader aware of all the choices he has.

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2021 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Literature, grade: 1,0, Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, language: English, abstract: This thesis draws on the notion that identity - our sense of self - and the ways in which we remember ourselves are strongly interrelated to discuss two novels of an author who is well accustomed to writing what he himself has, in a 1989 interview with Gregory Mason, called “the texture of memory”: Kazuo Ishiguro. In discussing two of Ishiguro’s novels, The Remains of the Day and When We Were Orphans, this thesis will address the ambivalent forces of memory in more detail and examine how personal memory and personal identity are, in the two chosen texts, conceptualised interdependently. In doing so, this thesis furthermore analyses the specific literary functionalisation of the concepts of memory, which the two chosen texts provide us with. However, the theme of memory and identity must not be dealt with as a stand-alone subject in the two chosen texts; it rather has to be examined in the context of other discourses that are related to it. In both novels, identity is built on certain ideals which are, over the course of the two novels, subverted along with the respective identities themselves. Consequently, this thesis will relate its main research interest, the interdependence between memory and identity, to such other discourses which, in the two selected texts, are crucial to acquiring an understanding of the exact nature of the interdependence in question: discourses on individuality, trauma, self-deception, selfdelusion, self-reflection, nostalgia, and idealism. Having awarded Kazuo Ishiguro with the 2017 Nobel Prize in Literature, the Nobel Committee explained its choice in a press release, stating that Ishiguro, “in novels of great emotional force, has uncovered the abyss beneath our illusory sense of connection with the world.” In his novels, Ishiguro explores this illusory sense of connectedness through the eyes of characters that are confronted with the fragile forces of their very own memories. It is these characters, caught between remembrance and oblivion, between trauma and nostalgia for an irretrievable past, through which Ishiguro unmasks the illusory essence not only of our sense of connection with the world, but also of our sense of self. In an opening remark on the British Council’s official profile of Kazuo Ishiguro, James Procter fittingly states that “Ishiguro's novels are preoccupied by memories, their potential to digress and distort, to forget and to silence, and, above all, to haunt.”
