"Responsibility as a leader is the ability to respond quickly to a complex and changing business environment. It means using values to make decisions that not only affect brand trust and corporate reputation, but impact upon employees and the wider community. In today's increasingly interconnected world, it is more important than ever that managers can achieve goals and desired results while still maintaining a degree of authenticity, ethics and stewardship. The Responsible Leader identifies what it means to be an authentic leader, taking in intra-organizational relationships, role modelling and ethical practice. Addressing the practical challenge of implementing a framework of corporate social responsibility in an organization that may embrace thousands of people, The Responsible Leader sets out what this strategy looks like in practice and advises on creating a new and hopeful narrative for the future. Drawing on in-depth case studies from HSBC, PwC, Oasis and Marks and Spencers that chart the journey to responsible and sustainable management in challenging environments, it presents a fresh vision for leadership success that goes beyond simple compliance"--

These chapters on ‘Responsible Leadership’ represent the latest thinking on a topic of increasing relevance in a connected world. There are many challenges that still remain when it comes to establishing responsible leadership both in theory and practice. Whilst offering conceptualisations for the improvement of leadership is a first and perhaps easier response, what is more difficult is to facilitate the actual change to happen. These chapters will not only generate interest in the emerging domain of studies on responsible leadership, but also will pave the way for future research in this area in the years to come. Why are there so many books written about effective leadership today? Due to negative attitudes and thought patters, our current society is producing poor leaders who are leading the society to self-destruction. The messages being communicating to leaders are creating people who are attracting greed, selffishness and the opposite behaviors needed to be effective. Leaders in all areas of society like parents, coaches, teachers, administrators, and managers, all must re-examine their dominating thoughts about leadership if they want to achieve their goals. Because of the law of attraction, the leader's dominating thoughts will determine his/her level of success. The most dominating thought that a leader must possess is faith. Faith in God, in your abilities and other people abilities is the key to success. Leadership behaviors, whether it is motivating others, setting goals, hiring or firing empolyees, is continguent upon a leader's level of faith. Along with discussing why society is currently failing to reinforce faith, this book provides practical solutions that leaders can use to improve their effectivness. A model of leadership is presented in which the leader's dominating thoughts influence the behaviors that produce the result that the leader was thinking about, positive or negative. The key for the leader is to examine those thoughts to make sure they are positive faith thoughts about your creator, your abilities, and other people

It is time for the development of a new kind of business leadership. Global needs call for a revision of market capitalism and a move towards moral capitalism; a move "from value to values, from shareholders to stakeholders, and from balance sheets to balanced development" (Kofi Annan). With the challenge of this transition in mind, this book argues that it is time for a new understanding of leadership, a new romanticism which looks behind the overvalued, heroic leadership notion. The editors explore a romanticized rhetoric and situate it within current discourses of authentic, distributed and ethical leadership, where societal, economic and environmental challenges require us to take a collective lead towards doing good and growing well. Exploring this dichotomy of romantic ideal and essential requirement, this book combines the insights of leading academics and with those of practitioners in the field. Thought-provoking and engaging it will challenge both thinking and practice, and is essential reading for all those operating or researching in the field of leadership, particularly those who realize the overwhelming challenges of sustainability, and corporate social responsibility which the world now faces.

Despite the dearth of literature on virtues as essential for responsible leader behaviour, there remains a lack of consensus around which are a̲2́ƠË−the' virtues most closely associated with responsible leader behaviour. To address this, the current study focuses on a specific set of six cardinal virtues with the aim of identifying which are a̲2́ƠË−the' virtues most essential for responsible leader behaviour. A mono-method quantitative methodology was applied, and 139 participants responded to the survey questionnaire. A correlation analysis was used to test the hypothesis in order to understand which virtues were positively associated with responsible leader behaviour. A linear regression analysis was employed to explore predictability. Results indicated that the virtues of prudence and temperance were positively associated with responsible leader behaviour thus identifying the a̲2́Ơ¿3Top Twoa̲2́Ơ℗+ virtues essential for responsible leader behaviour. The study makes a theoretical contribution to the burgeoning literature on responsible leadership by supporting a virtue-based approach to cultivating responsible leader behaviour. At the practical level, the study contributes to the development of a leader's capacity to do good and avoid harm as essential for promoting positive organizational outcomes.

Leading Responsibly In The Asian Century written by Mario Fernando and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-12-15 with Business & Economics categories.
The book is one of the first to focus on responsible leadership in the contemporary Asian century context. It adopts a unique context driven social innovation based responsible leadership approach to explain how context can impact and shape the theory and practice of responsible leadership. This unique work will strongly appeal to a broad spectrum of researchers and scholars across disciplines with a particular interest in the interplay between leadership, responsibility and ethics. As Asia’s influence on the global economy continues to grow in the Asian Century, this book offers a culturally integrated view of how the shift in economic power to Asia and the rising new global economic order can influence the theory and practice of responsible leadership. The book focuses particularly on the Asian century opportunities and challenges as a strong contextual factor that shapes the ‘responsibility’ of responsible leadership. The scholarly literature on the topic, the case studies developed through interviews and secondary data, and author’s corporate experiences in the Asia-Pacific region in leading organisations are key sources for the book’s assertions. It fills an important gap in the literature on how Asian cultural factors might influence the predominantly Western developed responsible leadership theory and practice. This book covers key topics including the moral basis for responsibility, theory and practice of responsible leadership, Asian challenges to responsible leadership, and socially innovative responsible leadership. “Fernando’s book provides a fresh and novel perspective on how evolutionary changes in economic power between Asia and the rest of the world undoubtedly will affect the practice of responsible leadership. He examines varying views on responsible leadership across cultures, demonstrating how Asian and Western leadership styles have evolved as our economy continues to become more globally integrated.” Prof. Laura Pincus Hartman Director, Susilo Institute for Ethics in the Global Economy Boston University, Questrom School of Business, Boston, USA “There is little doubt that this is the Asian Century and that economic and political influences from the east will increase. But so too may cultural, ethical and even religious influences. It is therefore important that researchers understand these significant changes. In this book Mario Fernando gives us an insight into what this means for responsible leadership. It is primarily an excellent work of scholarship, written for academics who teach and research in this area by someone who knows Asian business and culture from the inside. But it will also reward careful study by practicing leaders and those who are the potential leaders of the future.” Professor of Business Ethics, Geoff Moore Durham Business School Durham University, UK

Responsible Leadership And Millennials written by Klaudia Stefaniuk and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018 with categories.
Research on responsible leadership has extensively developed in recent years. At the same time, the need arose to study the increasingly important Millennial Generation who are expected to soon undertake leadership role in businesses and organizations globally. Yet, only few studies exist that focus on this generation's development into future responsible leaders, and on reviewing previous research, the author argues that some fundamental questions in relation to responsible leadership of millennials remain open and require further investigation. Until now, most studies on responsible leadership focused primarily on responsible leadership behavior towards employees in general. However, researchers suggest that the Generation Y individuals seem to differ from the previous generations in most relevant aspects (Valentine & Powers, 2013). Thus, this study aims to fill the gap and expand the understanding of responsible leadership in the millennial context. The author examines both theoretically and empirically, through the qualitative analysis of 19 interviews, (1) What does responsible leadership entail in the context of millennials? What specific behaviors does a responsible leader exhibit towards millennial followers? What are the challenges relating to leading millennials responsibly? And (2) How can organizations develop and enhance responsible leadership of millennials? What qualities and competencies are needed to succeed as a responsible leader? What are the outcomes of leading and developing millennials into future leaders? The main contribution of this thesis lies in the investigation of responsible leadership in the specific millennial context, transferring prior research to this setting and introducing a comprehensive toolbox for responsible leaders of millennial followers. It builds upon responsible leadership research by verifying and extending prior findings. The empirical results provide further understanding into t.
