Multicultural churches help us understand God’s will for us to become one in this multicultural world and experience a heavenly gathering in advance. This book, based on case studies of four multicultural churches, provides insights and knowledge regarding minority-dominant multicultural churches in the United States. Many multicultural churches in America are mainly concerned about racial reconciliation between the white and the black. On the other hand, resources concerning minority-dominant multicultural churches are scant. With the special attention on Korean immigrant churches, this book contributes to the body of knowledge regarding minority-dominant multicultural churches. Specifically, this book provides a model transition process, called the Windmill T-process, to facilitate the movement of monocultural/monoethnic churches in taking steps towards acquiring the characteristics of multicultural churches. In addition, this book touches on the issue of evangelism in the multicultural church. Although there is limited insight, the book describes what factors first draw different racial/ethnic people to a church and what factors cause them to stay there. All in all, this book will guide you to a deeper understanding on multicultural churches and its practices for all nations beyond ethnic/racial identities.

Christianity in the UK today is faced with growing cultural and religious diversity. Christian migrants bring with them new ways of doing theology, new styles of worship, and new expressions of the faith. Increased levels of migration mean that the Church needs to reconsider what a ‘mission-shaped church’ looks like. ‘Multicultural Kingdom’ explores some of the causes and implications of ethnic diversity on the British Christian landscape – and the implications on the landscape of theology itself. Why, it asks, do we prefer to remain segregated in our ecclesiology? Why indeed, do several churches of different ethnic heritage use the same building for services on Sunday but do not get to worship together? Articulating for the first time an extensive ‘multicultural missiology’ for the UK church, the book will offer an essential new perspective for scholars and practitioners alike.

Despite the progress our country has made in Civil Rights over the past century, Sunday morning is still one of the most segregated times in America. It seems like the only people striving to lead in the area of racial reconciliation are politicians, activists, and celebrities. Pastor Dan Willis wants to know... Where is the church? What can the people of God do to become leaders again and not just be Johnny-come-lately followers? The art of bringing harmony to the masses lies in the love all should see in the church of God. If the church is to make a difference and return to relevance in this world, the only option is multicultural ministry. If leaders are not prepared to minister to this growing culture, then American Christianity is in danger of becoming nonessential to the body of believers. For years, Dan Willis has led a growing, multicultural Christian community in the suburbs of Chicago. In The Multicultural Church, Dan shares what he has learned, the mistakes he has made, and what can be done to successfully minister to a diverse culture.

Over the last 60 years the ethnic diversity of the western world has changed dramatically as a result of successive waves of immigration. The impact of this on the church is evident in the growing number of congregations that are now multicultural to a greater or lesser extent. This presents challenges as well as opportunities to those leading these congregations. This book aims to explore this within the context of both Scripture and society. It will also consider competencies and skills that may help leaders of churches and other Christian organisations unlock the potential that this diversity offers. Malcolm Patten has been a Baptist Minister for over twenty years and this book combines his congregational sociological research and his years of experience as a Pastor in multicultural churches. He will also be interviewing others who are involved in working with multicultural churches across the denominations (Anglican, Methodist, URC) as well as drawing in expertise from BME networks, the Evangelical Alliance, Churches Together and Independent churches with multicultural congregations such as Kensington Temple, Westminster Chapel and Emmanuel Church, Westminster.

This dissertation provides biblical evidence from the Old and New Testament that God’s design for his global and local church has been multicultural. Motivations for pursuing multicultural ministry have at times been siloed to certain sections of biblical narrative or have been driven by sociological realities. This dissertation explores the through line of unity in diversity across the whole biblical narrative. The methodology of this work will be to uncover implicit roots in the Old Testament, explicit patterns in the New Testament, primary arguments for and against multicultural churches, and practical insights on becoming multicultural. Key findings include the multicultural promise within the Abrahamic call, the heterogenous nature of ancient Israel, the multicultural composition of certain New Testament churches, and prophetic images from which the church must lead today. This biblical analysis, augmented by sociological implications, will give academic and church leaders the insight and application to join God in his multicultural mission.
