Simon was watching the school diving sports. Xavier stood on the one metre board, ready to take his dive. Xavier was the best diver in the school. He’d already won a spot to compete in the State Finals. This was his last dive. It was going to be his hardest – a double backflip. Xavier had never done a double backflip before. No one at school had ever done a double backflip The children were silent. The teachers were silent. Simon blinked and rubbed his eyes. The sun’s heat made Xavier look hazy. Simon’s eyesight cleared. Xavier turned around, facing away from the water. He carefully took his position, standing on his toes with his arms outstretched. He began to rock up and down, building up speed and bounce. As he was about to leap into the air, his legs buckled. One hand went to his forehead and he freewheeled backwards off the board. There was a loud slap as he hit the water. The diving coach jumped into the pool. He swam over to Xavier and helped him to the edge. A couple of other teachers grabbed Xavier’s arms and pulled him out of the water. “Xavier! Xavier, are you all right?” they asked. What is wrong with Xavier? Is he haunted? Read this creepy tale to find out! Reading level 3.3 Jeannie Meekins is an Australian writer who lives with her children and a couple of cats who think they own the computer. And if her dog could read, he’d be jealous, so it’s lucky that he can’t. Jeannie has also written numerous books for children, many available through LearningIsland.com

The Last Dive written by Bernie Chowdhury and has been published by Harper Collins this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-02-19 with Travel categories.
Chris and Chrissy Rouse, an experienced father-and-son scuba diving team, hoped to achieve widespread recognition for their outstanding but controversial diving skills. Obsessed and ambitious, they sought to solve the secrets of a mysterious, undocumented World War II German U-boat that lay under 230 feet of water, only a half-day's mission from New York Harbor. In doing so, they paid the ultimate price in their quest for fame. Bernie Chowdhury, himself an expert diver and a close friend of the Rouses', explores the thrill-seeking world of deep-sea diving, including its legendary figures, most celebrated triumphs, and gruesome tragedies. By examining the diver's psychology through the complex father-and-son dynamic, Chowdhury illuminates the extreme sport diver's push toward—and sometimes beyond—the limits of human endurance.

Anatomy Of Performance Training written by John Matthews and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-09-25 with Performing Arts categories.
We train because we are human and we become human because we train. This is the surprising and original conclusion of Anatomy of Performance Training, in which John Matthews shows how training is a very human response to the problems of having a body and living in the world. Using illustrative case-studies of professional practice, each chapter addresses a specific body part, offering a self-contained discussion of its symbolic and practical significance in the artistic, and commercial, activities of training. These anatomical case-studies are cross-referenced with other disciplines (such as sport, high diving, deep diving and artisan craft) to further expand our understanding of performance. Stand-alone chapters, ideal for reference, build towards an overall conclusion that the uniquely human practice of training is emerging as a new and pervasive ideology globally. Ideal for readers seeking to understand the relationship the body has with the theatre and training, or for teachers looking for a new, innovative approach to performance, Anatomy of Performance Training is an accessible, original contribution to the philosophy of training for performance.
