Diploma Thesis from the year 2013 in the subject Communications - Multimedia, Internet, New Technologies, grade: 1,3, LMU Munich (Institut für Informatik), course: Medieninformatik, language: English, abstract: Radio frequency identification (RFID) still owns a "black-box" image in the mental models of most people. With the current trends to enhance this technology with other functionalities and sensors, this mystical image even gets worse. Despite the fact that there is relative constant amount of scientific publications working with the RFID technology, only few accurately classified works exist, that provide an holistic understanding of this technology. From the view of an user interaction designer it is hardly possible to utilize the remarkable benefits of RFID technology with the current state of science. By an exemplary design of wireless devices, this thesis investigates the RFID technology and draws an in-depth picture of its current state. This is done on a theoretical level with the introduction of the 2013 RFID taxonomy, as well as with three series of enhanced RFID tag prototypes, that have been built to gain practical knowledge in this field. The final prototype implements a music player that is controlled by a set of RFID control widgets. This also is a first application of the Tesla User Interface idea. By comparing and evaluating these approaches, the usefulness for human computer interaction (HCI) was verified, even though this should be done attentively. A whole spectrum of concrete future work in the field of electronic engineering, networking and HCI are proposed as an important result of this work.

Diploma Thesis from the year 2013 in the subject Communications - Multimedia, Internet, New Technologies, grade: 1,3, LMU Munich (Institut fur Informatik), course: Medieninformatik, language: English, comment: This thesis documents the research and development of new interaction concepts for passive sensor RFID technologies. Therefore it first of all consistently structures and categorizes the whole technological field of RFID. In the end it opens up possibilities for interaction concepts with the passive sensor RFID technology. In the addendum a vast list of related scenarios provides a fast introduction into the possibilities of this technology., abstract: Radio frequency identification (RFID) still owns a "black-box" image in the mental models of most people. Mechatronics 98 written by J. Adolfsson and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1998-08-28 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Mechatronics, a synergistic combination of mechanical, electronic and computing engineering technologies, is a truly multidisciplinary approach to engineering. New products based on mechatronic principles are demonstrating reduced mechanical complexity, increased performance and often previously impossible capabilities. This book contains the papers presented at the UK Mechatronics Forum's 6th International Conference, held in Skövde, Sweden, in September 1998. Many of these high-quality papers illustrate the tremendous influence of mechatronics on such areas as manufacturing machinery, automotive engineering, textiles manufacture, robotics, and real-time control and vision systems. There are also papers describing developments in sensors, actuators, control and data processing techniques, such as fuzzy logic and neural networks, all of which have practical application to mechatronic systems.

The future of reference librarianship as a viable and essential part of the library depends on developing a proactive, participatory, and hands-on approach to automation. This book pulls together the most important elements of change likely to influence library information services and explains them clearly. It covers both the conceptual context and practical real-life implementations of current automation in reference services. The automation technologies include OPACs, CD-ROM, international networks, expert systems, natural language processing, and virtual reality. In addition to helping people find information, reference librarians also perform another service: the comprehension and understanding of the operative connections between and route to information. It necessitates an unrelenting exploration and immersion within the world information matrix to maintain currency and knowledge. The author shows how reference librarians have in the past and will in the future take a leading role in adapting automation to reference services.
