Results-Driven Teaching explores the reality that individual teachers have different perspectives on teaching. Some teachers perceive teaching as distributing textbooks, handing out worksheets, and giving tests on Fridays. While others might vary the activities in classrooms, they still have a predictable pattern of what is done and accomplished-some students learn and some do not. A results-driven teacher, however, leads every student to true learning. This standard is far above the written job description and requirements for a satisfactory performance evaluation, but the results-driven teacher's standard comes from ethics, conscience, and a personal dedication to results. Results-Driven Teaching is a lively, personal, and interactive exploration of the realistic demands and unlimited possibilities of teaching. This book will challenge readers and inspire teachers. Everyone benefits when teachers teach so well that every student learns.

Competence Based Vocational And Professional Education written by Martin Mulder and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-09-08 with Education categories.

This book presents a comprehensive overview of extant literature on competence-based vocational and professional education since the introduction of the competence concept in the 1950s. To structure the fi eld, the book distinguishes between three approaches to defi ning competence, based on 1.functional behaviourism, 2. integrated occupationalism, and 3. situated professionalism. It also distinguishes between two ways of operationalizing competence: 1. behaviour-oriented generic, and 2. task-oriented specifi c competence. Lastly, it identifi es three kinds of competencies, related to: 1. specific activities, 2. known jobs, and 3. the unknown future. Competence for the unknown future must receive more attention, as our world is rapidly evolving and there are many ‘glocal’ challenges which call for innovation and a profound transformation of policies and practices. Th e book presents a range of diff erent approaches to competence-based education, and demonstrates that competencebased education is a worldwide innovation, which is institutionalized in various ways. It presents the major theories and policies, specifi c components of educational systems, such as recognition, accreditation, modelling and assessment, and developments in discipline-oriented and transversal competence domains. Th e book concludes by synthesizing the diff erent perspectives with the intention to contribute to further improving vocational and professional education policy and practice. Joao Santos, Deputy Head of Unit C5, Vocational Training and Adult Education, Directorate General for Employment, Social Aff airs and Inclusion, European Commission: “This comprehensive work on competence-based education led by Martin Mulder, provides an excellent and timely contribution to the current debate on a New Skills Agenda for Europe, and the challenge of bridging the employment and education and training worlds closer together. Th is book will infl uence our work aimed at improving the relevance of vocational education to support initial and continuing vocational education and training policy and practice aimed at strengthening the key competencies for the 21st century.” Prof. Dr. Reinhold Weiss, Deputy President and Head of the Research, Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB), Bonn, Germany: “This book illustrates that the idea and concept of competence is not only a buzzword in educational debates but key to innovative pedagogical thinking as well as educational practice.” Prof. Dr. Johanna Lasonen, College of Education, University of South Florida, Tampa, USA: "Competence-based Vocational and Professional Education is one of the most important multi-disciplinary book in education and training. Th is path-breaking book off ers a timely, rich and global perspective on the fi eld. Th e book is a good resource for practitioners, policymakers and researchers."

Educational Accountability: International perspectives on challenges and possibilities for school leadership provides an opportunity to assess, reflect on, and discuss current issues surrounding accountability policies in education from around the globe and the implications they hold for school leadership. It addresses the global trend of accountability policies expanding in scope to include the education profession as well as the increasing incidence of international policy borrowing, brought on chiefly by globalisation. Specific case studies offer a contextual examination of the theory, policy and practice of accountability and an inspection of their influence on school leadership. Cases are intentionally juxtaposed to provide a broad perspective of regional and cultural similarities and departures, and are arranged to reflect the diasporic Chinese, Anglo, European, and Hispanic societies. Bringing together a number of highly regarded experts within the field, the book cultivates a global perspective on the challenges and possibilities for school leaders to foster school effectiveness and improvement. Educational Accountability should be key reading for researchers, policy makers, and current and future school leaders.

Teaching In The Middle And Secondary Schools written by Richard Dean Kellough and has been published by Prentice Hall this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009 with Education categories.

This practical, performance based methods text for middle and second school pre-service teachers is organized around four developmental components: Why–gives the rationale to support the components that follow What–what you will be teaching How–how you will teach it How well–how well you are teaching it. Organized into four parts that are then split up into ten modules, the text begins with a history of education going back to colonial times. The modules then cover the many and varied aspects of teaching pre and early adolescents, such as teaching students with exceptionalities, classroom management, diversity, instructional planning, using technology in the classroom, assessing student achievement, and self-assessment and continued professional development. The authors contend that the best teacher is one who has an eclectic style and can monitor their own progress and make changes and adapt their strategies if they are not succeeding. The ninth edition has been carefully updated to reflect the diversity and current topics in the field today. The book is a valuable resource for students today and as a reference for many years to come. New To This Edition: NEW! Improved balance of content between middle and secondary schools–this emphasizes that middle school is uniquely different from both high school and the traditional junior high school and that pre-and early adolescence is different from late adolescence. NEW! Technology has been integrated throughout every module of the book–New features including “Teaching Scenarios,” “Activities,” and “Technology Rich” features were added to all modules. NEW! Contributions from pre-service and in-service middle and secondary school teachers, teacher educators, and educational researchers have been added--to strengthen the tie between theory and practice.

This publication is the outcome of a DEETYA funded project which focused on the implementation of outcome based approaches to teaching and learning in schools. Some of the key issues facing schools in the process of changing from an in-put driven to an outcome-based approach are identified. It includes a selection of abstracts of papers developed during the study which provide practical support for teachers and others in leadership roles in schools.
