Scientific Study from the year 2016 in the subject Engineering - Communication Technology, Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, language: English, abstract: The future Wireless Communication Systems (WCS) are supposed to provide high data rate to support personal and multimedia communications irrespective of the users' mobility and location. These services include heterogeneous classes of traffics such as voice, file transfer, web browsing, wireless multimedia, teleconferencing, and interactive games. In recent years, data and multimedia services have become important in wireless communications. As a result, bandwidth requirement and number of users become delicate problems. To support high data rate requirement for future WCS, it is essential to efficiently allocate the limited resources. The major challenges are the dynamic nature of wireless channel, limited resources such as power, frequency spectrum, and diversified Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a special case of multicarrier transmission that supports high data rate operation. OFDM is a modulation and multiplexing technique appropriate for current and future wireless networks. OFDM divides the available bandwidth into a number of parallel independent orthogonal subchannels and their bandwidth is much less than the coherence bandwidth of the channel. The wide band frequency selective fading channel is converted into several narrow band flat fading channels. OFDM is an excellent method to overcome multipath fading effects. One of the goals of WCS is to enhance the capacity of the channel. Multiple Access Technique (MAT) permits several mobile users to share the given bandwidth in an effective way. Basically there are four multiple access techniques available namely, Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), Frequency Division Multiple access (FDMA), Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and Space Division Multiple Access (SDMA). MAT is employ

On Resource Optimization And Robust Cqi Reporting For Wireless Communication Systems written by Ayaz Ahmad and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with categories.

Adaptive resource allocation in wireless communication systems is crucial in order to support the diverse QoS needs of the services and optimize resource utilization. The design of resource allocation schemes should consider the service type for which it is intended. Moreover, due to feedback delay and channel estimation error, the Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) reported to the transmitter may not be a perfect measure of the channel quality and its use for resource allocation may severely degrade the systems performance. In this thesis, we study resource allocation and CQI reporting for wireless networks while taking the aforementioned factors into consideration. First, we consider resource allocation and adaptive modulation in uplink SC-FDMA systems. This is a combinatorial problem whose optimal solution is exponentially complex. We use canonical duality theory to derive a polynomial complexity resource allocation algorithm that provides a nearly optimal solution to the problem. Then, we focus on resource allocation for video streaming in wireless networks with time-varying interference. To this end, by using risk-sensitive control approach, we develop a cross-layer optimization framework that performs power control at the PHY/MAC layer and rate adaptation at the APPLICATION layer jointly and provides fairness among nodes. Finally, by using stochastic control and game theory, we design a robust best-M CQI reporting scheme for multi-carrier and multi-user systems which takes into account the impact of feedback delay and error in CQI computation. Performing resource allocation on the basis of the proposed CQI reporting can significantly improve the system performance.

Nowadays, wireless communications and networks have been widely used in our daily lives. One of the most important topics related to networking research is using optimization tools to improve the utilization of network resources. In this dissertation, we concentrate on optimization for resource-constrained wireless networks, and study two fundamental resource-allocation problems: 1) distributed routing optimization and 2) anypath routing optimization. The study on the distributed routing optimization problem is composed of two main thrusts, targeted at understanding distributed routing and resource optimization for multihop wireless networks. The first thrust is dedicated to understanding the impact of full-duplex transmission on wireless network resource optimization. We propose two provably good distributed algorithms to optimize the resources in a full-duplex wireless network. We prove their optimality and also provide network status analysis using dual space information. The second thrust is dedicated to understanding the influence of network entity load constraints on network resource allocation and routing computation. We propose a provably good distributed algorithm to allocate wireless resources. In addition, we propose a new subgradient optimization framework, which can provide findgrained convergence, optimality, and dual space information at each iteration. This framework can provide a useful theoretical foundation for many networking optimization problems. The study on the anypath routing optimization problem is composed of two main thrusts. The first thrust is dedicated to understanding the computational complexity of multi-constrained anypath routing and designing approximate solutions. We prove that this problem is NP-hard when the number of constraints is larger than one. We present two polynomial time K-approximation algorithms. One is a centralized algorithm while the other one is a distributed algorithm. For the second thrust, we study directional anypath routing and present a cross-layer design of MAC and routing. For the MAC layer, we present a directional anycast MAC. For the routing layer, we propose two polynomial time routing algorithms to compute directional anypaths based on two antenna models, and prove their ptimality based on the packet delivery ratio metric.

Qos Based Resource Allocation And Transceiver Optimization written by Martin Schubert and has been published by Now Publishers Inc this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with Technology & Engineering categories.

QoS-Based Resource Allocation and Transceiver Optimization derives a comprehensive theoretical framework for SIR balancing, with and without noise. The theory considers the possible use of receive strategies (e.g. interference filtering or channel assignment), which can be included in the model in an abstract way. Power allocation and receiver design are mutually interdependent, thus joint optimization strategies are derived. QoS-Based Resource Allocation and Transceiver Optimization provides a better understanding of interference balancing and the characterization of the QoS feasible region. It also provides a generic algorithmic framework, which may serve as a basis for the development of new resource allocation algorithms. QoS-Based Resource Allocation and Transceiver Optimization is an invaluable resource for every engineer and researcher working on multiuser interference problems in wireless communications.
