"On January 24-25, 1991, forty-six individuals from a variety of disciplines gathered in Washington, D.C., for the Working Meeting on Research Issues in Electronic Records. The purpose of the meeting, sponsored by the Minnesota Historical Society and funded by a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC), was to identify issues; describe research opportunities, methodologies, and projects; [and to] determine priorities for projects contributing to the better management of archival information in electronic form. In short, meeting participants were to examine issues related to the identification, preservation, and long-term use of electronic records, and to produce a national agenda for research in the archival management of such records.
