Researchers in the engineering industry and academia are making important advances on reliability-based design and modeling of uncertainty when data is limited. Non deterministic approaches have enabled industries to save billions by reducing design and warranty costs and by improving quality. Considering the lack of comprehensive and definitive presentations on the subject, Engineering Design Reliability Handbook is a valuable addition to the reliability literature. It presents the perspectives of experts from the industry, national labs, and academia on non-deterministic approaches including probabilistic, interval and fuzzy sets-based methods, generalized information theory, Dempster-Shaffer evidence theory, and robust reliability. It also presents recent advances in all important fields of reliability design including modeling of uncertainty, reliability assessment of both static and dynamic components and systems, design decision making in the face of uncertainty, and reliability validation. The editors and the authors also discuss documented success stories and quantify the benefits of these approaches. With contributions from a team of respected international authors and the guidance of esteemed editors, this handbook is a distinctive addition to the acclaimed line of handbooks from CRC Press.

Handbook Of 217plus Reliability Prediction Models written by William Denson and has been published by RIAC this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with Technology & Engineering categories.

217Plus is a methodology and a software tool that was developed by the RIAC to aid in the assessment of system reliability. It represents the next generation of the PRISM software tool initially released in 1999. The original software contained six embedded models to estimate the failure rate of various components when exposed to a specific set of stresses that are defined by the user. The 217Plus contains twelve embedded component models. Until the release of this handbook, the equations comprising the component reliability prediction models were not available in printed form. As such, a user of the old software tool could not see the exact equations that comprised the models. It is always advantageous for analysts to be able to review details of the models, so that reliability prediction results can be better interpreted and supported through mutual practitioner, management and customer understanding. The RIAC, therefore, developed and published this handbook to make available the equations and model parameters that form the basis of the 217Plus methodology.

Materials and Reliability Handbook for Semiconductor Optical and Electron Devices provides comprehensive coverage of reliability procedures and approaches for electron and photonic devices. These include lasers and high speed electronics used in cell phones, satellites, data transmission systems and displays. Lifetime predictions for compound semiconductor devices are notoriously inaccurate due to the absence of standard protocols. Manufacturers have relied on extrapolation back to room temperature of accelerated testing at elevated temperature. This technique fails for scaled, high current density devices. Device failure is driven by electric field or current mechanisms or low activation energy processes that are masked by other mechanisms at high temperature. The Handbook addresses reliability engineering for III-V devices, including materials and electrical characterization, reliability testing, and electronic characterization. These are used to develop new simulation technologies for device operation and reliability, which allow accurate prediction of reliability as well as the design specifically for improved reliability. The Handbook emphasizes physical mechanisms rather than an electrical definition of reliability. Accelerated aging is useful only if the failure mechanism is known. The Handbook also focuses on voltage and current acceleration stress mechanisms.

Software Reliability Handbook written by Rook and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1990-03-31 with Computers categories.

The reliability of software is becoming increasingly important to a large range of industries that rely on complex computer systems and machinery with computer control. The reliability of a system depends on both the hardware and the software that comprise the system. Although faults in design can continue to give problems, the issues and the techniques for meeting severe reliability requirements in hardware have been understood for some time. In the case of software both the techniques and a positive attitude of software developers to the achievement of reliability are much less well established. They are particularly crucial in the development of software dependent safety-critical systems.
