REGIONAL WATER SECURITY Regional Water Security provides new research on policy innovations that promote the application of demand management and green infrastructure (GI) in managing water resources across regions sustainably. In particular, with regional water security around the world at risk from climatic and non-climatic challenges impacting water quantity and water quality, this book, in addition to providing examples of demand management and GI being implemented in various locations globally, contains in-depth case studies that illustrate how regions, of differing climates, lifestyles, and income levels, have implemented policy innovations that promote the application of demand management and GI to achieve regional water security for humans while protecting and restoring the natural environment. Regional Water Security will be of interest to regional water resource managers, town and regional planners, resource conservation managers, policymakers, international companies, and organizations as well as environmental NGOs, researchers, and graduate and undergraduate students.

Searches on the Internet show water insecurity exists and grows in developed and developing democracies. A realistic way of obtaining and maintaining regional water security remains unknown. Doing Regional Water Security explains a way to obtain water security. To obtain security that is tailored to fit their regional water community, people think and act as water stakeholders/voters in their community. They obtain input from other participants, namely guidance from a facilitative/interdisciplinary leader, advice from discipline specialists, and assistance from support staff. After identifying the contexts of water security, stakeholders/voters and other participants obtain security by making decisions and taking actions in a sequence of stages and steps in the region and its water problem-sheds. The process is complex and difficult. It requires time and persistence. Yet, security can be obtained. Participants record lessons learned which are shared with people elsewhere who want to pursue water security. Various individuals and groups are likely to find the regional water security process useful. They include people who experience or anticipate water insecurity; legislative bodies and executives which provide needed legal authority and financial resources; water security practitioners; water technology and related organizations; and nongovernmental environmental organizations. These entities exist within or cross local, state/provincial, federal and/or national boundaries. Water security researchers review lessons learned and conduct independent research on the regional water security process. Graduate and undergraduate students learn and apply lessons learned and research conclusions which they employ during their careers, thereby increasing future water security in developed and developing democracies.

Strengthening Regional Water Security For Greater Resilience In The G5 Sahel written by Weltbankgruppe and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021 with categories.
The World Bank's historical engagement in transboundary water in West Africa is at a turning point, at a time when the G5 Sahel region faces unprecedented challenges. Therefore, it is time for the World Bank to broaden its water sector approach in the G5 Sahel and shift its focus to establishing a regional water security framework. The dual objectives of this report on the G5 Sahel region are to: (i) do a high-level analysis of water security challenges and their impacts on regional socio-economic development and stability, and (ii) suggest directions for future World Bank engagement on regional water security. The focus of this note is more exclusively on regional water challenges and local challenges with cross-border or even regional spillover effects. The report takes a development-driven approach to: (i) identify some of the ways in which water security affects socio-economic development in the G5 Sahel, (ii) explore the linkages between water security, resilience and conflict prevention, and (iii) present a set of guiding principles for the next regional engagements on water security in the region, both in terms of types of investment and implementation modalities. This report will also serve as a basis for deepening the dialogue with counterparts in the next fiscal year.

Regional areas are key building blocks of society in many countries. This compilation uses Australian case study examples to demonstrate how regional areas are uniquely well-placed to contribute to national goals in innovation, infrastructure provision, water and food security, environmental sustainability, industry diversification, healthy and liveable communities, and natural disaster preparedness and response. Each of these themes is examined in the context of using innovative approaches from regions to deliver outcomes that are nationally significant. Authorship is drawn from a balance of leading practitioners and academics to provide stories that are both engaging and rigorous. The case studies are contextualised by an analysis of regional advantage literature, discussion on the regional policy implications and lessons, and commentary around the key trends and drivers for innovation and regional advantage in Australia. The book provides a convincing argument that focusing on regional innovation and development offers significant benefits to a nation as a whole.

Natural Resources Utilization In China written by Malin Song and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-09-11 with Political Science categories.
This book focuses on the evaluation, coordination, and effects of China’s natural resource utilization. By adopting both quantitative and qualitative analyses, this book objectively evaluates the spatial distribution characteristics and coupling relationship of China’s natural resource utilization based on the status quo and prominent problems during resource utilization. Moreover, the environmental, economic, and price fluctuation effects of China’s natural resource utilization are discussed. Finally, current policy systems for efficient utilization of natural resources in China and abroad are provided, which suggest a way for China to achieve efficient utilization of natural resources through an appropriate policy mechanism. This book aims to seek the balance the utilization of natural resources and sustainable development in China. It puts forward a new paradigm of natural resource utilization by incorporating the efficiency evaluation, coordination measures, and effect mechanisms of different kinds of natural resources. The evaluation system and related research methods for the efficient utilization of natural resources are very mature, laying a foundation for the development of this book’s content. As the conservation of natural resources is widely accepted, this book helps readers understand how to achieve efficient natural resource utilization in China. Meanwhile, the study of resource utilization in China can provide insights for other countries.

Climate Change In The Mediterranean And Middle Eastern Region written by Walter Leal Filho and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-01-01 with Science categories.
This book serves the purpose of showcasing some of the works in respect of applied research, field projects, and best practice to foster climate change adaptation across the region. Climate change is having a much greater impact in the Mediterranean than the global average. In the Paris Climate Agreement, the UN member states pledged to stop global warming at well below two degrees, if possible at 1.5 degrees. This mark, which is expected elsewhere only for 2030 to 2050, has already been reached in the region. The situation could worsen in the coming years if the global community does not limit its emissions. The above state of affairs illustrates the need for a better and more holistic understanding of how climate change affects countries in the Mediterranean region on the one hand, but also on the many problems it faces on the other, which prevent adaptation efforts. There is also a perceived need to showcase successful examples of how to duly address and manage the many social, economic, and political problems posed by climate change in the region, in order to replicate and even upscale the successful approaches used. It is against this background that the book "Climate Change in the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Region" has been produced. It contains papers prepared by scholars, practitioners, and members of governmental agencies, undertaking research and/or executing climate change projects, and working across the region.
