Re Imagining Economic Sociology written by Patrik Aspers and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015 with Business & Economics categories.

The purpose of this book is to explore new developments in the field of economic sociology. It contains cutting-edge theoretical discussions by some of the world's leading economic sociologists, with chapters on topics such as the economic convention, relational sociology, economic identity, economy and law, economic networks and institutions. The book is distinctive in a number of ways. First, it focuses on theoretical contributions, by pulling together and extending what the contributors believe to be the most important theoretical innovations within their own particular areas of the field. Second, there are contributions by leading economic sociologists from both the US and Europe, which gives the book both wider scope and appeal, while also creating the opportunity for some interesting dialogue between distinct theoretical traditions. The book will be of interest to researchers, Ph.D. students, and advanced students on both side of the Atlantic, and indispensible in advanced economic sociology courses.

In this volume a group of eminent economists and other social scientists seek to present an innovative new approach to economic development, drawing in part from certain heterodox intellectual traditions within economics as well as from the other social sciences. The intention is to point the way theoretically to a much more sophisticated understanding of economic development. The ultimate prize, they show, by grounding theory in a more accurate analysis of social change, is policies that really will deliver higher economic growth and greater social justice worldwide.

Uncertainty written by Patrik Aspers and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024 with Business & Economics categories.

"Uncertainty is inherent in human existence and can be an opportunity or a fundamental problem for individuals and organizations. The environment of actors, individuals and organizations alike, is uncertain (Ahrne 1994), which means that we cannot predict the outcomes of actions. This is to say that uncertainty is a largely future-oriented problem. Uncertainty is always perceived, ultimately, by persons, and different structural positions, knowledge, confidence, and emotions may affect the way different people perceive uncertainties (Schutz and Luckmann 1989: 48). The problem of uncertainty is epistemic, caused by lack of knowledge. But though uncertainty is, on one hand a problem, it is also, on the other hand, an opportunity for profit and for a dynamic life"--

Beyond The Regulation Approach written by Bob Jessop and has been published by Edward Elgar Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with Business & Economics categories.

This book presents a detailed and critical account of the regulation approach in institutional and evolutionary economics. Offering both a theoretical commentary and a range of empirical examples, it identifies the successes and failures of the regulation approach as an explanatory theory, and proposes new guidelines for its further development. Although closely identified with heterodox French economists, there are several schools of regulation theory and the approach has also been linked to many topics across the social sciences. Bob Jessop and Ngai-Ling Sum provide detailed criticisms of the various schools of the regulation approach and their empirical application, and have developed new ways of integrating it into a more general critical exploration of contemporary capitalism. The authors go on to describe how the regulation approach can be further developed as a progressive research paradigm in political economy. Also presented is a detailed philosophical as well as theoretical critique of the regulation approach and its implications for the philosophy of social sciences and questions of historical analysis (especially periodization). Addressing the implications of the regulation approach for both the capitalist economy and the changing role of the state and governance, this book will be of great interest to a wide-ranging audience, including institutional and evolutionary economists, economic and political sociologists and social and political theorists.
