Berbagai upaya untuk menghilangkan diskriminasi pendidikan bagi agama lokal sudah dilakukan bangsa Indonesia. Misalnya saja terbitnya (MK) No. 977/PUU-XIV/2016 tentang Identitas Penghayat, serta terbitnya Permendikbud No. 27 tahun 2016 tentang Layanan Pendidikan Agama bagi Komunitas Penghayat. Namun demikian, pada tataran praktis di lapangan, diskriminasi pendidikan masih dirasakan agama lokal di Indonesia. Di mana pun, diskriminasi sering kali terjadi karena hegemoni mayoritas atas minoritas. Untuk bertahan, komunitas agama lokal menggunakan pendidikan untuk menjaga serta melestarikan berbagai nilai yang diyakini. Pada konteks gerakan sosial, upaya untuk bertahan melalui jalur pendidikan ini dapat dikategorikan sebagai gerakan sosial baru. Sebelumnya, berbagai gerakan sosial lebih banyak mengandalkan pada kesempatan politik (opportunity political structure), serta sumber daya organisasi (resource mobilization). Kegigihan menggunakan jalur pendidikan untuk melestarikan nilai, membuat keberadaan 3 agama lokal tetap eksis di Indonesia, hingga saat ini. Buku ini mengungkap berbagai ajaran, pendidikan nilai serta gerakan sosial yang dilakukan, serta diskriminasi pendidikan yang dirasakan 3 agama lokal di Indonesia. Semoga, kehadiran buku ini dapat memberi kontribusi bagi semakin kuatnya harmoni kehidupan bernegara di Indonesia.
