Pattern Theory is a groundbreaking exploration of the concept of pattern across a range of disciplines, including science, neuroscience, psychology, and social sciences. This book examines the meaning and implications of pattern, presenting a comprehensive body of theory that unifies concepts of form, order, and regularity and connects them to memory and perception. By challenging existing orthodoxies and linking evidence from brain and mind function, it outlines a robust theoretical framework around pattern searching and matching, pattern activation, and the continuity of pattern nexuses. This in-depth study of pattern theory and pattern thinking delves into the cognitive basis of patterns, their impact on reasoning and learning, and the social and collaborative nature of pattern recognition, expression, and representation. It also addresses philosophical issues and implications surrounding shared pattern thinking and introduces a broad conceptual basis for "pattern inquiry", providing a range of questions and methodologies for applying pattern theory. The book culminates in a manifesto for pattern theory and its application in pattern inquiry, offering 50 key principles that can be applied across various settings. Researchers, scholars, and practitioners are encouraged to explore and critique this unified theory as a lens for examining social and cognitive phenomena. Ideal for academics and professionals seeking to challenge their understanding of the connections between mind and society, as well as for those looking to deepen their understanding of pattern as a cognitive phenomenon, as a theoretical lens, and as a meta-methodology for inquiry, this text provides a substantive foundation for ongoing development and application of pattern science across multiple fields.

The Rape Of The Mind written by Joost Abraham Maurits Meerloo and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1956 with Brainwashing categories.

Since 1933, when a completely drugged and trial-conditioned human wreck confessed to having started the Reichstag fire in Berlin, Dr. Joost A.M. Meerloo has studied the methods by which systematic mental pressure brings people to abject submission, and by which totalitarians imprint their subjective 'truth' on their victims' minds. Dr. Meerloo spent the first two and one-half years of WWII under the pressure of Nazi-occupied Holland, witnessing at first-hand the Nazi methods of mental torture on more than one occasion. Then, after personal experiences with enforced interrogation, he escaped from a Nazi prison and certain death to England, where he was able, as Chief of the Psychological Department of the Netherlands Forces, to observe and study coercive methods officially. After the war, he came to the United States. As more and more cases of thought control, brainwashing, and mental coercion were disclosed (Cardinal Mindszenty, Colonel Schwable, Robert Vogeler, and others), his interest grew. It was Dr. Meerloo who coined the word menticide, the killing of the spirit, for this peculiar crime. It is Dr. Meerloo's position that through pressure on the weak points in men's makeup, totalitarian methods can turn anyone into a 'traitor.' And in The Rape of the Mind he goes far beyond the direct military implications of mental torture to describing how our own culture unobtrusively shows symptoms of pressurizing people's minds. He presents a systematic analysis of the methods of brainwashing and mental torture and coercion, and shows how totalitarian strategy, with its use of mass psychology, leads to systematized 'rape of the mind.' He describes the new age of cold war with its mental terror, verbocracy, and semantic fog, the use of fear as a tool of mass submission, and the problem of treason and loyalty, so loaded with dangerous confusion. The Rape of the Mind is written for the interested layman, not only for experts and scientists.

Each of these essays present an in-depth analysis of major arguments and ideas relevant to the particular area and is designed to bring out opposing viewpoints. The essays span the period from 1927 to the present. Pritchard provides a deliberate and convincing argument for a starting point for the discussion of moral development, on in which self regard and empathy provide equally essential groundings for individual morality. Drawing essential elements from the work of Reid, Strawson, Rawls, Kohlberg, and Gilligan, he builds a comprehensive framework for tracing moral development from childhood--one that allows human morality to be grounded in both reason and emotion and that recognizes the importance to morality of justice and rights as well as caring and responsibility.

Here is a book for people who don't think of themselves as salespeople, and don't want to either. It gives a proven method for selling a service, one that's not pushy or manipulative, a sales method that professionals can be comfortable with. The person who understands the client's needs, honestly answers concerns, matches services to those needs -- and who is easy to do business with -- gets the signed contract every time. "(Reveals) the sales and marketing secret that some of the best, most customer-focused service companies have been keeping to themselves for years: good sales is good service and good service is good sales". Ron Zemke, President, Performance Research Associates, Inc., and author of Service America
