Incorporates the idea of data abstraction as a programming technique. In fact, it takes as its central theme the idea that abstraction is a powerful technique for writing well-structured computer programs. Written specifically for the CS 2 student, it presents all the CS 2 material and early on discusses the use of abstraction as a means to help solve problems by separating the implementation issues from the specification issues. Classical abstract data types are covered, but presented as examples of this powerful technique rather than as defining that technique. With its goal of helping students become good programmers, it covers both memory and time efficiency considerations, various testing and verification techniques and useful sorting methods. The material is presented consistently throughout--the motivation for the concept to be covered is given, followed by examples and a significant case study. End-of-chapter programming problems that incorporate the ideas discussed are included.

Beyond Hegel And Dialectic written by William Desmond and has been published by Suny Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1992 with Philosophy categories.
This book is a defense of speculative philosophy in the wake of Hegel. In a number of wide-ranging, meditative essays, Desmond deals with the criticism of speculative thought in post-Hegelian thinking. He covers the interpretation of Hegelian speculation in terms of the metataxological notion of being and the concept of philosophy that Desmond has developed in two previous works, Philosophy and Its Others, and Desire, Dialectic and Otherness. Though Hegel is Desmond's primary interlocuter, there are references to Aristophanes, Socrates, Plato, Augustine, Aquinas, Descartes, Kant, Marx, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Heidegger, Levinas, and Derrida. Desmond is concerned with the limits of philosophy. The themes of the essays include speculation and historicism, speculation and cult, speculation and representation, evil and dialectic, logos and the comedy of failure.

Phillips interviews actors who worked with Lean and directors who knew him, and their comments reveal new details about the director's life and career. Phillips also explores Lean's lesser-studied films, such as The Passionate Friends (2949), Hobson's Choice (1954), and Summertime (1955). The result is an in-depth examination of the director in cultural, historic, and cinematic contexts."--Jacket.

Volume 5 Tome I Kierkegaard And The Renaissance And Modern Traditions Philosophy written by Jon Stewart and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-12-05 with Philosophy categories.
The long period from the Renaissance to the nineteenth century supplied numerous sources for Kierkegaard's thought in any number of different fields. The present, rather heterogeneous volume covers the long period from the birth of Savonarola in 1452 through the beginning of the nineteenth century and into Kierkegaard's own time. The Danish thinker read authors representing vastly different traditions and time periods. Moreover, he also read a diverse range of genres. His interests concerned not just philosophy, theology and literature but also drama and music. The present volume consists of three tomes that are intended to cover Kierkegaard's sources in these different fields of thought. Tome I is dedicated to the philosophers of the early modern period and the Enlightenment who played a role in shaping Kierkegaard's intellectual development. He was widely read in German and French philosophy of the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, making reference to the leading rationalist philosophers Descartes, Spinoza and Leibniz in his journals and published works. Further, connections have also been pointed out between his thought and the writings of the French thinkers Montaigne, Pascal and Rousseau, who share with Kierkegaard a form of philosophy that is more interested in life and existence than purely conceptual analysis. Through the works of the authors explored here Kierkegaard became acquainted with some of the major philosophical discussions of the modern era such as the beginning of philosophy, the role of doubt, the status of autonomy in ethics and religion, human freedom, the problem of the theodicy found in thinkers such as Bayle and Leibniz, and the problem of the relation of philosophy to religion as it appears in the German writers Jacobi and Lessing.
