The deployment of communications networks and distributed computing systems requires the use of open, standards-based, integrated management systems. During the last five years, the overall industry effort to develop, enhance, and integrate man agement systems has crystallized in the concept of management platforms. Manage ment platforms are software systems which provide open, multi vendor, multiprotocol distributed management services. They allow multiple management applications to run over core platform services which constitute the essential part of the management platform framework. This book provides a comprehensive analysis of the features and technical character istics of distributed management platforms by examining both qualitative and quanti tative management capabilities required by each management platform service. The analysis covers the management platform run-time environment, the operational aspects of using management platforms, the development environment, which con sists of software toolkits that are used to build management applications, the imple mentation environment, which deals with testing interoperability aspects of using management platforms, and of course the distributed applications services which plat forms make available to management applications. Finally, the analysis covers the capabilities of several management applications, either generic or specific to devices or resources which run on top of management platforms.

Concurrent Engineering Techniques And Applications written by C. T. Leondes and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-12-01 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Concurrent Engineering Techniques and Applications reviews advances in concurrent engineering techniques and applications. An in-depth treatment of the quantitative and economic aspects of concurrent engineering is presented, with emphasis on techniques for measuring the performances of concurrent engineering and for comparing its economic effectiveness with that of traditional engineering. Open systems software standards in concurrent engineering are also discussed. Comprised of 12 chapters, this volume begins with an introduction to techniques for measuring the performances of concurrent engineering and for comparing its economic effectiveness with that of traditional engineering. The next chapter deals with open systems software standards and how to use open systems products effectively in concurrent engineering. The discussion then turns to concurrent product design and manufacturing; the essential issues involved in design-decision support in concurrent/simultaneous engineering; design for manufacturing and assembly and concurrent engineering in electro-optical systems; and the use of visualization in concurrent engineering. The use of multimedia presentation techniques and technology in the concurrent engineering process is also considered, along with techniques in technical documentation. This monograph will be useful to students, academicians, practicing professionals, and research workers.

Interoperable Database Systems Ds 5 written by David K. Hsiao and has been published by North Holland this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993 with Computers categories.

The proliferation of databases within organizations have made it imperative to allow effective sharing of information from these disparate database systems. In addition, it is desirable that the individual systems must maintain a certain degree of autonomy over their data in order to continue to provide for their existing applications and to support controlled access to their information. Thus it becomes necessary to develop new techniques and build new functionality to interoperate these autonomous database systems and to integrate them into an overall information system. Research into interoperable database systems has advanced substantially over recent years in response to this need. The papers presented in this volume cover a wide spectrum of both theoretical and pragmatic issues related to the semantics of interoperable database systems. Topics covered include techniques to support the translation between database schema and between database languages; object oriented frameworks for supporting interoperability of heterogeneous databases, knowledge base integration and techniques for overcoming schematic discrepancies in interoperable databases. In addition, there are papers addressing issues of security transaction processing, data modelling and object identification in interoperable database systems. It is hoped the publication will represent a valuable collective contribution to research and development in the field for database researchers, implementors, designers, application builders and users alike.
