Modular origami is the latest craze in paper folding! These three-dimensional models are created from a number of small pieces of paper that are easily folded and then cleverly fit together to form a spectacular shape. They range from paper polyhedra to bristling buckyballs that are reminiscent of sea urchins--to ornate flower-like spheres. Each piece of paper is held by the tension of the other papers--demonstrating the remarkable hidden properties of paper, which is at the same time flexible but also strong! Author Byriah Loper has been creating modular origami sculptures for just five years, but in that time, he's pushed the upper limits of the art form with some of the largest, most complex geometric paper constructions ever assembled. While many geo-modular origami artists focus on creating dense floral spheres, Byriah has pioneered the open, linear "wire frame" approach, which results in a very complex-looking model that reveals the interior of its form. He exhibits his sculptures annually at the Origami USA convention in New York, and was recently a featured artist at the "Surface to Structure" exhibition at the Cooper Union gallery in the East Village. A great way to learn origami, the easy-to-follow diagrams and step-by-step instructions in this book show you how to fold the paper components and then assemble them to create 22 incredible models. Each model is a new challenge, and the paper sculptures you create look fantastic on your desk or shelf!

Wondrous One Sheet Origami is a how-to book full of beautiful origami designs covering a wide range of folding levels from simple to high intermediate, with more emphasis on the latter. The book is meant for audiences 12 years of age and above, and children folding at higher than age level. Most of the designs are flat and suitable for mounting on cards or framing as gifts. Features • Richly illustrated full-color book with clear, crisp diagrams following international standard, and an abundance of photographs of finished models • Select designs hand-picked by the author based on social media responses • Most of the designs incorporate color-change, a technique showing both sides of paper for enhanced beauty "Meenakshi Mukerji's work is both intricate and lovely. She's greatly respected in the origami world, one of the well-known world leaders in modular origami. Her books offer a nice exposition of the mathematical elements, but you're not being hit over the head with math lessons. You learn things without even realizing that you have." –Dr. Robert J. Lang "Meenakshi Mukerji is one of today's masters of modular origami, designs comprised of multiple pieces of paper. She also brings her ingenuity and creativity to designs made from a single piece of paper. Among the most appealing aspects of her single sheet work is the way she subtly manipulates a purely geometric form to fold a flower, a leaf, a butterfly, or card suits." –Peter Engel

This innovative book — among the first to combine the art of origami with making polyhedra-based models — shows papercrafters how to create over 60 different polyhedral from origami units. Comprised of modules made of single sheets of paper, the figures offer model builders and math students alike a stimulating entrée into the world of three-dimensional geometric origami. Origamists are initially introduced to a number of preliminary folds that will aid in constructing a variety of figures. Step-by-step instructions and clearly outlined diagrams then show how to create polyhedral ranging from a relatively simple tetrahedron and cube to such mind-boggling fabrications as the double pentagonal pyramid, a truncated hexadecahedron and the 92-faced snub dodecahedron. You'll also learn to construct these intriguing polyhedral: a stellated icosahedron, an equilateral triangle dodecahedron, and a truncated octahedron. Graded according to difficulty, these multifaceted projects will not only challenge devotees of the ancient Japanese art of paper folding but will be useful in classroom demonstrations of mathematical principles.
