Materials Data for Cyclic Loading, Part C: High-Alloy Steels provides the necessary data for a proper material assessment. The book presents the data of high-alloy steels that help estimate the crack initiation lives of structural parts. The data sheets included in the text provide the description of the material and testing procedures, along with diagrams for stress-strain curves for monotonic and cyclic loading strain life curve. The book also provides the results of stress- and strain-controlled constant amplitude tests. The text will be useful to researchers and practitioners of engineering, metallurgy, and physics.

Materials Data for Cyclic Loading, Part B: Low-Alloy Steels presents materials data for cyclic loading which provide the basis for materials assessment by direct comparison of data or characteristic values and for estimating the crack initiation lives of low-alloy steels under constant and variable amplitude loading. The data include stress-strain curves, strain life curves, and mean stress parameter life curves for cyclic loading. Each data sheet takes up a maximum of four pages. The first page gives a description of the material and testing procedure. The chemical composition is always given in weight percent and corresponds to the values given in the literature referred to. The second and third pages show the diagrams for: stress-strain curves for monotonic and cyclic loading; strain life curve;, and mean stress (damage) parameter life curve according to the parameter of Smith, Watson and Topper. Unless indicated otherwise in the plots, the experiments were carried out at room temperature in laboratory air. The diagrams for the stress-strain relationships contain at the most three curves, one for monotonic loading and two for cyclic loading, the latter being evaluated from incremental step tests and constant amplitude tests. All three curves can be described approximately by an analytical function. This book will be of interest to materials scientists.

This book is a compilation of selected papers from the 2014 New Trends in Fatigue and Fracture (NT2F14) Conference, which was held in Belgrade, Serbia. This prestigious conference brought together delegates from around the globe to discuss how to characterize, predict and analyze the fatigue and fracture of engineering materials, components, and structures using theoretical, experimental, numerical and practical approaches. It highlights some important new trends in fracture mechanics presented at the conference, such as: • two-parameter fracture mechanics, arising from the coupling of fracture toughness and stress constraints • high-performance steel for gas and oil transportation and production (pressure vessels and boilers) • safety and reliability of welded joints This book includes 12 contributions from well-known international scientists and a special tribute dedicated to the scientific contributions of Stojan Sedmark, who passed away in 2014.

Materials For The Hydrogen Economy written by Russell H. Jones and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-12-22 with Science categories.

Hydrogen offers a promising alternative for supplying clean and sustainable energy to meet increasing demands worldwide. However, materials are key to transforming the technology into a viable industry. Materials for the Hydrogen Economy describes the technical challenges and the current efforts in developing materials possessing the properties required for handling each stage of the hydrogen fuel chain. Thorough coverage offers newcomers as well as experienced engineers and researchers a reliable and fully scalable foundation in this field. This book covers all seven of the current hydrogen production methods, as well as distribution, storage, and utilization technologies, particularly fuel cells. It details the chemical reactions, processes, types of feedstock, and commercial equipment involved in hydrogen production. It also covers methods, membranes, liners, and sensors used for separating, sealing, and purifying hydrogen. Several chapters examine corrosion effects in pipeline steels and other storage and transportation vessels, leading to discussions of hydrogen permeation barriers, barrier coatings, and hydrides for on-board hydrogen storage. The final chapters focus on electrolytes and component materials for solid-oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) and H2/O2 PEM fuel cells. Materials for the Hydrogen Economy provides a broad review of material requirements for handling hydrogen from production to market. It explores the development of these materials alongside essential considerations and issues associated with their deployment.
