This report summarizes the rich exchange of experience from the Conference, including the overall conclusions, expert presentations, a range of case studies across the Asia region, as well the results of field exercises and working group discussions analysing the Mount Huangshan National Park and Hongcun-Xidi Ancient Villages, illustrating how World Heritage Sites can be integrated into broader regional and destination-level tourism management processes.

Tourism Development In Europe written by World Tourism Organization and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Business & Economics categories.

This publication contains the proceedings of two UNWTO conferences on "Tourism: a Tool for Sustainable Development in Transitional Economies", held in Belgrade on 20-21 June 2005, and "Impact of European Union Enlargement on Tourism Development in Europe", held in Vilnius, on 1-2 March 2006. There is an overlap between economies in transition and the group of countries that joined the European Union in 2004 and, from the perspective of tourism development, a large group of European countries share similar challenges and opportunities. While Europe is the region that receives the largest number of international tourists and registers the highest amount of receipts from international tourism, there is a great difference between traditional destinations with a long history of tourism development and the countries that recovered independence after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Some countries already undertook major reforms in their political and economic spheres while others are still addressing structural issues inherited from the past. Tourism contributes positively to European integration and at the same time its success depends on the development and modernisation of several economic and social sectors.

Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2023 in the subject Computer Sciences - Artificial Intelligence, , language: English, abstract: This thesis examines the integration of behavioural science terminology and artificial intelligence (AI) in tourism marketing. The primary objective of this study is to identify and analyse the potential synergies between these interdisciplinary disciplines and investigate novel strategies for enhancing marketing campaigns and promoting sustainable tourism. The study employs a multi-method approach, including a comprehensive literature review, in-depth interviews with industry experts, and case studies of effective marketing campaigns that engage AI and behavioural science principles. Tourism is a critical contributor to the global economy, accounting for an estimated 1-in-10 jobs worldwide. In the post-Covid era, the sector has experienced significant growth, leading to intense competition among tourism organizations and marketers seeking innovative and sophisticated marketing strategies to attract and retain customers. A promising approach to enhance customer experiences and maximize marketing efforts is integrating behavioural science and artificial intelligence (AI) in tourism marketing, optimizing marketing activities' effectiveness. Behavioural science involves systematically studying and researching decision-making processes, cognitive biases, and social influences to understand consumer behaviour better, promote environmentally friendly options, and influence purchasing decision. Similarly, AI technologies, such as machine learning and natural language processing, hold the potential to revolutionize business operations and customer engagement. When applied to tourism marketing, combining behavioural science and AI can improve personalization, targeting, and customer interactions, resulting in higher satisfaction and loyalty.

Progress towards sustainable tourism has become imperative in the European Union. The tourism industry has grown to massive proportions in the last decade and so has its environmental impact. Since tourism is after all an economic activity, a better management of tourism is not only necessary to mitigate its negative effects on the environment, but also to minimise the potential conflict with other economic activities. Tourism also promotes intercultural relations and mutual understanding and is widely recognized as a mjor opportunity for enhancing the territorial cohesion within Europe. Sustainable tourism can support and drive the territorial cohesion towards a harmonious and balanced development of Europe. It has a high potential to enhance cohesion among regions because it fosters the promotion of identity of each region and the sharing of the diverse European natural and cultural heritages, traditions and languages.

With the aim of contributing to the understanding of the relationship between tourism and biodiversity and assess the way that tourism can contribute to the protection of biodiversity and enhance its role as a main resource for tourism destinations, UNWTO has produced this publication. It illustrates the high value of biodiversity for tourism, outlines current policies, guidelines and global initiatives in which the interrelationship between tourism and biodiversity is addressed, as well as identifies risks and challenges for the tourism sector from the global loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services. The report concludes with ten recommendations for actions on biodiversity and tourism for governments (national and destination level), the tourism private sector, international organizations and NGOs.
