to the Fundamental and Applied Catalysis Series Catalysis is important academically and industrially. It plays an essential role in the manufacture of a wide range of products, from gasoline and plastics to fertilizers and herbicides, which would otherwise be unobtainable or prohibitively expensive. There are few chemical-or oil-based material items in modem society that do not depend in some way on a catalytic stage in their manufacture. Apart from manu facturing processes, catalysis is finding other important and ever-increasing uses; for example, successful applications of catalysis in the control of pollution and its use in environmental control are certain to increase in the future. The commercial importance of catalysis and the diverse intellectual challenges of catalytic phenomena have stimulated study by a broad spectrum of scientists, including chemists, physicists, chemical engineers, and material scientists. Increas ing research activity over the years has brought deeper levels of understanding, and these have been associated with a continually growing amount of published material. As recently as sixty years ago, Rideal and Taylor could still treat the subject comprehensively in a single volume, but by the 1950s Emmett required six volumes, and no conventional multivolume text could now cover the whole of catalysis in any depth. In view of this situation, we felt there was a need for a collection of monographs, each one of which would deal at an advanced level with a selected topic, so as to build a catalysis reference library.

Kinetics And Catalysis In Homogeneous And Heterogeneous Systems written by I. M. Kolesnikov and has been published by Nova Biomedical Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with Science categories.

This book consists of two parts: the first one deals with kinetics of processes in heterogeneous systems and those with different degrees of phase dispersion. Strict analytic methods are recommended for solving the kinetic equations for non-catalytic processes in gas, liquid, and solid phases herein. The second part of the book is devoted to studying structure and properties of catalysts and to the developing of catalysis theories. Kinetic methods to describe catalytic process have been worked out. Mechanisms of elementary catalytic stages are under consideration: theoretical methods of selecting catalysts for chemical reactions are being suggested on the basis of the theory of catalysis by polyhedra and Generalised Quantum-Chemical Principle. Mechanisms of adsorption, homogenous and heterogeneous catalysis, are under consideration. Theoretical parts are illustrated by problems with solutions.

Concepts Of Modern Catalysis And Kinetics written by I. Chorkendorff and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-06 with Technology & Engineering categories.

In the past 12 years since its publication, Concepts of Modern Catalysis and Kinetics has become a standard textbook for graduate students at universities worldwide. Emphasizing fundamentals from thermodynamics, physical chemistry, spectroscopy, solid state chemistry and quantum chemistry, it introduces catalysis from a molecular perspective, and stresses how it is interwoven with the field of reaction kinetics. The authors go on to explain how the world of reacting molecules is connected to the real world of industry, by discussing the various scales (nano - micro - macro) that play a role in catalysis. Reflecting the modern-day focus on energy supplies, this third edition devotes attention to such processes as gas-to-liquids, coal-to-liquids, biomass conversion and hydrogen production. From reviews of the prior editions: 'Overall, this is a valuable book that I will use in teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.' (Angewandte Chemie - I. E.) '...this excellent book is highly recommended to students at technical universities, but also entrants in chemical industry. Furthermore, this informative handbook is also a must for all professionals in the community.' (AFS) 'I am impressed by the coverage of the book and it is a valuable addition to the catalysis literature and I highly recommend purchase' (Energy Sources)

Heterogeneous catalysis has shaped our past and will shape our future. Already involved in a trillion dollar’s worth of gross domestic product, catalysis holds the key to near term impact areas such as improved chemical process efficiency, environmental remediation, development of new energy sources, and new materials. Furthermore, recent advances in understanding and computing chemical reactivity at the quantum level are opening new pathways that will accelerate the design of catalysts for specific functions. This enormous potential will ultimately be turned into reality in laboratory reactors and have its impact on society and the economy in the industrial reactors that lie at the heart of all chemical processes. Because the quanti- tive measure of catalyst performance is the reaction rate, its measurement is central to progress in catalysis. The pages that follow are a comprehensive guide to success for reaction rate measurements and analysis in catalytic systems. The topics chosen, the clarity of presentation, and the liberal use of specific examples illuminate the full slate of issues that must be mastered to produce reliable kinetic results. The unique combination of characterization techniques, thorough disc- sion of how to test for and eliminate heat and mass transfer artifacts, evaluation of and validity tests for rate parameters, and justification of the uniform surface approximation, along with the more standard ideal reactor analyses and development of rate expressions from sequences of elementary steps, will enrich readers from both science and engineering backgrounds.

Far more than a comprehensive treatise on initial-rate and fast-reaction kinetics, this one-of-a-kind desk reference places enzyme science in the fuller context of the organic, inorganic, and physical chemical processes occurring within enzyme active sites. Drawing on 2600 references, Enzyme Kinetics: Catalysis & Control develops all the kinetic tools needed to define enzyme catalysis, spanning the entire spectrum (from the basics of chemical kinetics and practical advice on rate measurement, to the very latest work on single-molecule kinetics and mechanoenzyme force generation), while also focusing on the persuasive power of kinetic isotope effects, the design of high-potency drugs, and the behavior of regulatory enzymes. - Historical analysis of kinetic principles including advanced enzyme science - Provides both theoretical and practical measurements tools - Coverage of single molecular kinetics - Examination of force generation mechanisms - Discussion of organic and inorganic enzyme reactions
