High-school sophomore Cam feels she must prove herself in her computer science class and RoboSub team in this realistic and empowering, witty young adult STEM read. An inspiring debut that takes on self-discovery and gender discrimination in the engineering and coding fields, perfect for 12+ year olds. High school sophomore Cam has always created techie things, like a ring she implanted with an NFC chip. This semester, she finally gets the chance to take a computer science elective. Cam tries to ignore the obnoxious boys who don't believe she should be in the class at all. Cam conspires with her quick-witted best friend, Viv, and they engineer their way onto the extracurricular RoboSub team. That ultimately lands them at a national competition as the only two girls on their team. Will Cam rise to the occasion and confirm—not to others, but to herself—that she belongs? Readers will be pulled into this realistic and rousing YA STEM coming-of-age book that’s sure to inspire girls in science to pursue classes, careers, and spaces that others believe they should have no part in. "[Imposter is] a celebration of everything we aim to foster through our programs—curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and the courage to dream big." —Alicia Gavin, Director of Communications and Marketing at RoboNation

Using FreeRTOS and libopencm3 instead of the Arduino software environment, this book will help you develop multi-tasking applications that go beyond Arduino norms. In addition to the usual peripherals found in the typical Arduino device, the STM32 device includes a USB controller, RTC (Real Time Clock), DMA (Direct Memory Access controller), CAN bus and more. Each chapter contains clear explanations of the STM32 hardware capabilities to help get you started with the device, including GPIO and several other ST Microelectronics peripherals like USB and CAN bus controller. You’ll learn how to download and set up the libopencm3 + FreeRTOS development environment, using GCC. With everything set up, you’ll leverage FreeRTOS to create tasks, queues, and mutexes. You’ll also learn to work with the I2C bus to add GPIO using the PCF8574 chip. And how to create PWM output for RC control using hardware timers. You'll be introduced to new concepts that are necessary to master theSTM32, such as how to extend code with GCC overlays using an external Winbond W25Q32 flash chip. Your knowledge is tested at the end of each chapter with exercises. Upon completing this book, you’ll be ready to work with any of the devices in the STM32 family. Beginning STM32 provides the professional, student, or hobbyist a way to learn about ARM without costing an arm! What You'll Learn Initialize and use the libopencm3 drivers and handle interrupts Use DMA to drive a SPI based OLED displaying an analog meter Read PWM from an RC control using hardware timers Who This Book Is For Experienced embedded engineers, students, hobbyists and makers wishing to explore the ARM architecture, going beyond Arduino limits.

Terrific Makerspace Projects written by Juan Denzer and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing PLC this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-08-12 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

Terrific Makerspace Projects: A Practical Guide for Librarians features fifteen customizable projects that were designed as projects created by librarians/makerspace facilitators, rather than projects in which librarians guided others (makerspace users). These projects were showcased during library events with the goal of promoting the makerspace, as well as other library services, while using them to build connections both within and external to the library. This book outlines maker projects in detail and provides plenty of photos and resources so readers can recreate, customize, and implement them. People at all skill levels in every type of makerspace will find something they can try, with projects that range from simple and low-tech to more complex and tech-heavy. Most projects are inexpensive, taking advantage of free online tools, upcycled or repurposed materials, and low cost electronics such as Arduinos. Each project can be approached as an offering for makerspace visitors or can be created by library employees themselves as tools to engage in outreach and promote the makerspace, library services, the institution, and more. Every project has been created and tested in a real library setting by the authors, who present lessons learned, possible variations, and different ideas on how to implement the projects to their fullest extent. Explore the idea of using the makerspace to highlight the value of other library services, or simply find new and fun ways to engage with your users. The book also offers suggestions on how to be a great maker, and tips on makerspace safety, finding low-cost materials, and more. Whether you’re just beginning your makerspace or looking for fresh ideas for your established space, this book has something to offer.

Leverage your Arduino skills in the Raspberry Pi world and see how to cross the two platforms into sophisticated programs. The Arduino and Raspberry Pi communities overlap more than you might think. Arduinos can be expanded to have network capabilities with a variety of “shields,” all of which increase the cost and complexity of the system. By contrast, Raspberry Pis all run Linux, which is a very network-competent platform. The newest Pi, the Raspberry Pi Zero W, is WiFi and Bluetooth capable, and costs around $10 U.S. For network enabled gadgets, it makes far more sense to cross to the Raspberry PI platform, if only someone would make it easy to do. That's what this book is about. You'll learn some survival level Linux system administration, so you know how to set the machine up and how to establish at least minimal security for your gadget. You''ll set up and learn the Geany IDE on your Pi, which is fairly similar to the Arduino IDE. Where the two platforms overlap the most is the GPIO system. You'll see that several projects use and explain the WiringPi system. This is is deliberately similar to the Arduino's 'Wiring' functionality, which is how sketches interact with GPIO pins. You'll learn the differences between the GPIO pins of the two devices, and how the Pi has some limitations on those pins that the Arduino does not. As a final project, in an effort to escape some of those limitations, you'll attach an AtMEGA 328P to the Raspberry Pi and configure it as a real, 8MHz Arduino with the Arduino IDE running on the Pi, and learn how to have the two platforms communicate, giving you the best of both worlds. What You'll Learn Establish security with Linux system administration Set up the Apache webserver Write CGI programs so other computers can connect to your Pi and pull datain from it. Use C/C++ from Arduino sketches to write programs for the Pi Who This Book Is For The Arduino user who's been through all the tutorials and is comfortable writing sketches and connecting hardware to their Arduino.
