Introduction To Metric And Topological Spaces written by Wilson A Sutherland and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-06-18 with Mathematics categories.

One of the ways in which topology has influenced other branches of mathematics in the past few decades is by putting the study of continuity and convergence into a general setting. This new edition of Wilson Sutherland's classic text introduces metric and topological spaces by describing some of that influence. The aim is to move gradually from familiar real analysis to abstract topological spaces, using metric spaces as a bridge between the two. The language of metric and topological spaces is established with continuity as the motivating concept. Several concepts are introduced, first in metric spaces and then repeated for topological spaces, to help convey familiarity. The discussion develops to cover connectedness, compactness and completeness, a trio widely used in the rest of mathematics. Topology also has a more geometric aspect which is familiar in popular expositions of the subject as `rubber-sheet geometry', with pictures of Möbius bands, doughnuts, Klein bottles and the like; this geometric aspect is illustrated by describing some standard surfaces, and it is shown how all this fits into the same story as the more analytic developments. The book is primarily aimed at second- or third-year mathematics students. There are numerous exercises, many of the more challenging ones accompanied by hints, as well as a companion website, with further explanations and examples as well as material supplementary to that in the book.

Exponentially increasing design complexity has necessitated the adoption of metric driven planning and project management. Metric Driven Design Verification provides the semiconductor industry’s first metric driven based approach to functional verification. A metric based flow is described that focuses on the four steps of: 1. Planning: Defining what needs to be done and the automatically trackable metrics that will be used to measure progress. 2. Execution: Implementing verification environments and then extensively exercising the device under verification utilizing comprehensive, massively parallel regression strategies. 3. Measurement: Automatically capturing the metrics defined in planning to provide objective data with which to manage the verification project. Custom tailoring those metrics through an automated reporting framework to provide all stakeholders a real-time meaningful view of project status. 4. Response: Utilizing the returned metrics to effectively adapt to changing project conditions. Making use of automated response mechanisms to automate engineering processed and management response to streamline project management processes. The primary audience for this book is professional engineers, managers, and executives. It is written in an easily understandable style and consists of four parts. The first three parts are tailored for executives, engineering managers, and engineers respectively. The fourth part presents case studies and commentaries from industry luminaries and experts on metric driven verification. Metric Driven Design Verification brings together the best practices and real-life experiences of several leading electronic companies worldwide in planning and managing verification projects, while automating critical processes. It addresses all aspects of verification and summarizes the different options available to engineers, managers and executives.

How can you help your software team improve? This concise book introduces codermetrics, a clear and objective way to identify, analyze, and discuss the successes and failures of software engineers—not as part of a performance review, but as a way to make the team a more cohesive and productive unit. Experienced team builder Jonathan Alexander explains how codermetrics helps teams understand exactly what occurred during a project, and enables each coder to focus on specific improvements. Alexander presents a variety of simple and complex codermetrics, and teaches you how to create your own. Learn how codermetrics changes long-held assumptions and improves team dynamics Get recommendations for integrating codermetrics into existing processes Ask the right questions to determine the type of data you need to collect Use metrics to measure individual coder skills and a team’s effectiveness over time Identify the contributions each coder makes to the team Analyze the response to your software and its features—and verify that you're meeting team and organizational goals Build better teams, using codermetrics to make personnel adjustments and additions

The book helps scientists write papers for scientific journals. Using the key parts of typical scientific papers (Title, Abstract, Introduction, Visuals, Structure, and Conclusions), it shows through numerous examples, how to achieve the essential qualities required in scientific writing, namely being clear, concise, convincing, fluid, interesting, and organized. To enable the writer to assess whether these parts are well written from a reader's perspective, the book also offers practical metrics in the form of six checklists, and even an original Java application to assist in the evaluation. The focus of the book is on self- and reader-assisted assessment of the scientific journal article. It is also the first time that a book on scientific writing takes a human factor view of the reading task and the reader scientist. By revealing and addressing the physiological causes that create substantial reading difficulties, namely limited reader memory, attention span, and patience, the book guarantees that writing will gain the much coveted reader-centered quality.

Metrics Norms And Integrals written by J. J. Koliha and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Mathematics categories.

Metrics, Norms and Integrals is a textbook on contemporary analysis based on the author's lectures given at the University of Melbourne for over two decades. It covers three main topics: metric and topological spaces, functional analysis, and the theory of the Lebesgue integral on measure spaces. This self-contained text contains a number of original presentations, including an early introduction of pseudometric spaces to motivate general topologies, an innovative introduction to the Lebesgue integral, and a discussion on the use of the Newton integral. It is thus a valuable book to inform and stimulate both undergraduate and graduate students.
