Market: Those in economics, especially thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, cybernetics, information theory, resource use, and evolutionary economic behavior. This book presents an innovative and challenging look at evolution on several scales, from the earth and its geology and chemistry to living organisms to social and economic systems. Applying the principles of thermodynamics and the concepts of information gathering and self- organization, the author characterizes the direction of evolution in each case as an accumulation of "distinguishability" information--a type of universal knowledge.

The idea behind The Unity of Nature is a strong theoretical theme in a number of scientific and environmental fields from ecosystems ecology, through quantum physics to environmental philosophy and ecopolitics giving rise to an inspiring, optimistic, socially-responsive and environment-friendly worldview. The fields of science and environmentalism have inherited this theme of natural unity through an intellectual lineage that encompasses many non-scientific and non-environmental fields such as sociology, theology and political philosophy. Many of these fields have used natural unity in a way which is in stark opposition to the metaphysical and political desires of those who promulgate the unity of nature for progressive social change. This book discusses how this has transpired and examines the social and intellectual processes that have been at work. These include the social construction of the Organicism versus Mechanicism debate in ecology, the intellectual links between neo-classical economic principles and the ‘New Sciences’, the techno-scientific background of Gaia theory, and the social conservatism of ecological functionalism.

The three well known revolutions of the past centuries - the Copernican, the Darwinian and the Freudian - each in their own way had a deflating and mechanizing effect on the position of humans in nature. They opened up a richness of disillusion: earth acquired a more modest place in the universe, the human body and mind became products of a long material evolutionary history, and human reason, instead of being the central, immaterial, locus of understanding, was admitted into the theater of discourse only as a materialized and frequently out-of-control actor. Is there something objectionable to this picture? Formulated as such, probably not. Why should we resist the idea that we are in certain ways, and to some degree, physically, biologically or psychically determined? Why refuse to acknowledge the fact that we are materially situated in an ever evolving world? Why deny that the ways of inscription (traces of past events and processes) are co-determinative of further "evolutionary pathways"? Why minimize the idea that each intervention, of each natural being, is temporally and materially situated, and has, as such, the inevitable consequence of changing the world? The point is, however, that there are many, more or less radically different, ways to consider the "mechanization" of man and nature. There are, in particular, many ways to get the message of "material and evolutionary determination", as well as many levels at which this determination can be thought of as relevant or irrelevant.

The International Conference on Intelligent Computing (ICIC) was formed to provide an annual forum dedicated to the emerging and challenging topics in artificial intelligence, machine learning, bioinformatics, and computational biology, etc. It aims to bring - gether researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry to share ideas, problems, and solutions related to the multifaceted aspects of intelligent computing. ICIC 2009, held in Ulsan, Korea, September 16–19, 2009, constituted the 5th - ternational Conference on Intelligent Computing. It built upon the success of ICIC 2008, ICIC 2007, ICIC 2006, and ICIC 2005 held in Shanghai, Qingdao, Kunming, and Hefei, China, 2008, 2007, 2006, and 2005, respectively. This year, the conference concentrated mainly on the theories and methodologies as well as the emerging applications of intelligent computing. Its aim was to unify the p- ture of contemporary intelligent computing techniques as an integral concept that hi- lights the trends in advanced computational intelligence and bridges theoretical research with applications. Therefore, the theme for this conference was “Emerging Intelligent Computing Technology and Applications.” Papers focusing on this theme were solicited, addressing theories, methodologies, and applications in science and technology.

Export Product Quality Renewable Energy And Sustainable Production 3rd Edition written by Umer Shahzad and has been published by Frontiers Media SA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-11-20 with Science categories.
Economic development has long been acknowledged for its beneficial effects on human well-being. In the context of economic globalization and vertical specialization, increasing the quality of export products is more critical and necessary to export success and sustainable development. The product's quality is inextricably linked to its manufacture and production, which need various types of energy and raw materials. Meanwhile, the adoption of more environmentally friendly and cleaner energy sources contributes to the achievement of sustainable production. Therefore, product quality may provide a new perspective from which to investigate the systematic relationship between greener and renewable energy sources, sustainable production and environmental regulations, as well as the nature of export competitiveness. Generally, export product quality has referred to the quality of manufactured products within the product lines. Quality refers to the relative price of a country's varieties within their respective product lines. Product sophistication assesses the composition of the aggregate exports. Different varieties of same product as per quality level are being produced by several developing and emerging economies. Within any given product line, quality converges both conditionally and unconditionally to the world's benchmark; increases in institutional quality and human capital are associated with faster quality upgrading. In turn, faster growth in quality is associated with more rapid output growth. The existing literature has mostly concentrated on the question of whether environmental regulation enhances or erodes export competitiveness, offering some valuable insights into Porter's theory, but it lacks a coherent theoretical framework. Little research has been done to examine the relationship between export product quality and renewable energy sources, manufacturing, and overall sustainable production, calling for advancement of the scholarship to tackle this burning issue. Numerous concerns have been expressed over the appalling connection between sustained development, industry, and environmental protection. The United Nations (UN) adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015 to balance economic, social, and environmental development through the introduction of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), which encouraged researchers in trade, environment, energy, and related fields to adopt an integrative, rather than isolative, approach. This Research Topic is dedicated to the study of the environment through the lenses of export product quality, export policies, and sustainable production. The aim is to advance knowledge in the fields of export quality (trade perspectives), renewable energy, the environment, and sustainable production through the dissemination of research that promotes holistic sustainability for the greater welfare of humanity. This topic will prioritize research focusing on emerging and developing economies. Academic scholars and researchers must both test hypotheses and put forward ideas for new solutions. For example, it is assumed that higher quality products require expensive inputs and resources for manufacturing. It must also provide strategies for a speedy and economically viable transition to renewable energy. This Research Topic is a step in this direction.

The Economics Of Energy And The Production Process written by Guido Buenstorf and has been published by Edward Elgar Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004 with Business & Economics categories.
The economics of energy has been a contested issue over the past century. Although it has not figured prominently in mainstream economics, numerous alternative proposals have called for energy to play a more central role in economic theory. In this highly original and enlightening volume, Guido Buenstorf develops a new conceptual approach to the economics of energy which originates from recent advances in evolutionary economics. The book proposes a non-reductionist, evolutionary approach to the economics of energy and sets out by asking how energy use in production contributes to the use value of goods. Based on a sequential production framework, the author re-interprets the notion of factors of production, identifies long-term patterns of change in energy use, and highlights the role of technical interdependence in adopting new energy technologies. This approach is then applied to three historical cases of energy innovation: the transition from wood to coal, the introduction of the steam engine, and the electrification of industrial production. Academics and researchers in the fields of evolutionary economics, ecological economics and innovation will welcome this fresh and illuminating interpretation of the economics of energy and its role in the process of production.

This work examines the environmental crisis within the context of the internationalization or globalization of people and nations. The existence of life on Earth - and certainly human life - has been called into question in the twentieth century, first through the threat of nuclear obliteration and climate alteration (the enhanced greenhouse effect and destruction of the Earth's ozone shield), environmental pollution, exploding human population growth and the destruction of species and genetic diversity. Many people believe that these 'global' dangers represent a crisis of such a magnitude that they can only be effectively dealt with by a 'global' response, in particular by the abandonment of the sovereignty of nations and the construction of a one world government in some shape or form. This 'new world order' would also save us from ourselves, bringing about an era of sustainable peace on Earth. It is argued here that this internationalist vision cannot succeed; it will destroy the environment, not preserve it, and bring about an era of turmoil and warfare, not peace. In particular, it is demonstrated that the environmental crisis is in part a product of internationalism. This book examines the deleterious consequences of internationalism with respect to major environmental and political debates such as ecologically sustainable development, technology and human freedom, economic rationalism and economic internationalism, immigration and human population expansion, racial and ethnic conflict and the globalization of epidemic diseases.
