Marijuana is the most commonly used psychotropic drug in the United States, after alcohol. With the legalization and decriminalization of cannabis, momentum continues to build and propelled by the reduction of stigma associated to its consumption, there is growing concern regarding the long-term impact on brain function and behavior. Cannabis and the Developing Brain aims to provide comprehensive research on the effects of cannabis during neurodevelopment stages (i.e., perinatal and adolescent ages). This book introduces readers to vivo neural circuits, molecular and cellular mechanisms affected by cannabis exposure during three different temporal windows of brain vulnerability. Second, it offers a unique insight to shared neurobiological features of cannabinoid exposure during different developmental periods. Lastly, Cannabis and the Developing Brain determines the adverse impact of developmental cannabinoid exposure on specific cognition, emotion and behaviors. - Reviews exposure effects on different areas and circuits of the brain - Identifies effects of exposure at prenatal, perinatal, infant, and adolescent ages - Includes cannabis interaction with known genetic and environmental risk factors - Contains neurodevelopment and neuropsychiatric disorders associated with cannabis exposure

Digital Holography Applications And Emerging Technologies written by Peter Wai Ming Tsang and has been published by Frontiers Media SA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-07-13 with Science categories.

With the rapid growth of computing and display technologies, digital holography (DH) has undergone significant advancement in the past two decades. Contemporary research works have enabled holography, a technology which is originally intended for displaying three-dimensional (3-D) images, to be deployed in numerous scientific, engineering, and bio-medical applications. Notably, digital holography has been incorporated into quite a number of contemporary applications, such as, but limited to holographic cryptography, optical metrology, remote sensing and inspection, and more recently, quantum computing. The success attained with DH so far does not limit its development to its current state-of-the-art, but rather research on holography keeps on expanding, with new ideas and methods keep coming up in a sustainable manner. This Research Topic aims to collect representative works from experts in the field, with the aim of providing an insight on the overall picture on digital holography, as well as reporting existing methodologies and emerging technologies that are likely to have strong impact on future research directions. Participating in the Research Topic, either as authors or readers, also facilitates establishing a platform for researchers to network, and to share their knowledge.

Feldman And Pike S Vitamin D written by Martin Hewison and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-10-28 with Reference categories.

Vitamin D deficiency is a worldwide problem linked to numerous diseases affecting men, women, and children of all ages. Enormous progress in the study of vitamin D has been made since the first edition of this highly-acclaimed book was published nearly 20 years ago, and current research continues to draw headlines. Feldman and Pike's Vitamin D, Fifth Edition continues to build on the successful formula from previous editions, taking the reader from the basic elements of fundamental research to the most sophisticated concepts in therapeutics. The two comprehensive volumes provide investigators, clinicians, and students with a comprehensive, definitive, and up-to-date compendium of the diverse scientific and clinical aspects of vitamin D, where each area is covered by both basic and clinical experts in the field. In Volume I: Biochemistry, Physiology and Diagnostics, international experts in endocrinology, bone biology, and human physiology take readers through the basic research of vitamin D. This impressive reference presents a comprehensive review of the multi-faceted actions of vitamin D relating both to skeletal and extra-skeletal action. Researchers from all areas of vitamin D will gain insight into how clinical observations and practices can feed back into the research cycle and will, therefore, be able to develop more targeted genomic, proteomic and metabolomic insights into the mechanisms of disease. Volume II: Health, Disease and Therapy authoritatively covers the evidence for new roles of vitamin D, ranging from organ transplantation to cancer, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, and renal disease. The coverage is appropriately broad, drawing on aspects of internal medicine, pediatrics, nutrition, orthopedics, oncology, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, and immunology, as well as, new areas for vitamin D including liver metabolism, veterinary medicine and ICU care – including COVID-19. Clinical researchers will gain a strong understanding of the molecular basis for a particular disease and better understand future directions for research in this still-growing field. • A comprehensive reference ranging from basic biochemistry, cell biology, and physiology principles to the clinical diagnostic and management implications of vitamin D• Saves researchers and clinicians time in quickly accessing the very latest details on the diverse scientificand clinical aspects of vitamin D, as opposed to searching through thousands of journal articles• Chapters written by the most prominent and well-published names in the field
