The aim of the Cancer Incidence in Five Continents series is to present data on cancer incidence from reliable registries in a standardized way so that comparisons between geographical areas and ethnic groups may be made with confidence. The efforts to build up cancer registration in areas of the world for which very little information on cancer occurrence is available are bearing fruit, and some of the results appear in this volume. Of particular note is the reappearance of Uganda, Kyadondo County - a registry for which data were published in Volume I but which was not able to contribute data until the period covered by the present volume. There are contributions from five new registries in Asia (including, for the first time, data from Korea and Vietnam) and from four in South America (presenting data from Argentina and Uruguay for the first time). An innovation in Volume VII is the analysis of histological sub-types for selected sites using data which have been checked for validity.

Occupational Cancer In Developing Countries written by Neil Pearce and has been published by Oxford University Press, USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1994 with Literary Criticism categories.
Cancers due to exposures in the workplace in developing countries have received little attention because of the overriding problems in those regions of communicable diseases, poverty, malnutrition, vulnerability to natural disasters and war. This book shows, however, that the global process of industrialization is resulting in increased exposures to occupational carcinogens in developing countries, owing to unsafe technology, bad working conditions, ineffective legislation on occupational safety and health and inadequate supervision. These factors are exacerbated by the fact that a workforce with generally poor health and nutritional status and which includes many women and children is more vulnerable to many diseases, including cancer. The transfer of hazardous industries and wastes from developed to developing countries is of particular concern. This publication brings together all of the available published data on occupational cancer in developing countries and presents the results of a survey carried out at IARC on common occupational exposures and measures that have been taken to control them. The overview indicates where information is lacking about the health effects of agents used in developing countries, many of which are banned or restricted elsewhere.

Trends In Cancer Incidence And Mortality written by Michel P. Coleman and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993 with Medical categories.
The availability at IARC of cancer incidence and mortality data for periods of up to 35 years has enabled the systematic examination of time trends in cancer risk for most major cancers, and for different countries and regions of the world, using the same methodological approach for all cancers and for incidence and mortality data. This consistent set of analysis and commentary on most major cancers represents the most extensive compilation so far of data and analyses on global trends in cancer incidence and mortality.

Patterns Of Cancer In Five Continents written by International Agency for Research on Cancer and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1990 with Medical categories.
The "Cancer Incidence in Five Continents" series presents data on cancer incidence in a standardized format for every area in the world from which it is possible to obtain reliable figures. Volume V, published in 1987, included data from population based cancer registries covering 137 populations in 36 countries. The publication depicts the data published in Volume V in a graphic format. This form of presentation allows a more easy appreciation of the range and pattern of incidence internationally, and highlights the interesting variations for the different cancer sites. Histograms of the world standardized rates illustrate the range in incidence for 40 geographically representative populations by cancer site and by sex, with the addition of bars showing the highest and lowest rates for each site among all the populations included in Volume V. Pie charts show the proportions of the top ten cancer sites within each of the 137 populations in Volume V. A series of graphs for 24 populations show the different pattern of incidence by age for 47 cancer sites.

Relevance Of N Nitroso Compounds To Human Cancer written by H. Bartsch and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1987 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.
This extensive volume offers 130 presentations that examine the relevance of N-nitroso compounds to human cancer. Significant advances are presented on the measurement of exposures to N-nitroso compounds and on possible links with several common human cancers. The contributions are from scientists in a wide range of disciplines, and cover clinical and epidemiological studies, tobacco/betel-quid carcinogenesis, endogenous formation, measurement of exposure, metabolism, reaction with cellular macromolecules, molecular mechanisms, and biological effects. This is the ninth in a biennial series of symposia, which is widely recognized to be the leading source in the field.
