Introduction To Nearshore Hydrodynamics written by Ib A Svendsen and has been published by World Scientific Publishing Company this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-12-23 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book is intended as an introductory textbook for graduate students and as a reference book for engineers and scientists working in the field of coastal engineering. As such it gives a description of the theories for wave and nearshore hydrodynamics. It is meant to de-mystify the topics and hence starts at a fairly basic level. It requires knowledge of fluid mechanics equivalent to a first year graduate level. At the end of each topic, an attempt is made to give an overview of the present stage of the scientific development in that area with numerous references for further studies.

Hydrodynamics Around Cylindrical Strucures written by B. Mutlu Sumer and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with Science categories.
This book discusses the subject of wave/current flow around a cylinder, the forces induced on the cylinder by the flow, and the vibration pattern of slender structures in a marine environment. The primary aim of the book is to describe the flow pattern and the resulting load which develops when waves or current meet a cylinder. Special attention is paid to circular cylinder. The development in the forces is related to the various flow patterns and is discussed in detail. Regular as well as irregular waves are considered, and special cases like wall proximities (pipelines) are also investigated. Sample Chapter(s). Chapter 1: Flow around a cylinder in steady current (1,262 KB). Contents: Flow Around a Cylinder in Steady Current; Forces on a Cylinder in Steady Current; Flow Around a Cylinder in Oscillatory Flows; Forces on a Cylinder in Regular Waves; Mathematical and Numerical Treatment of Flow Around a Cylinder; Diffraction Effect. Forces on Large Bodies; Forces on a Cylinder in Irregular Waves; Flow-Induced Vibrations of a Free Cylinder in Steady Currents; Flow-Induced Vibrations of a Free Cylinder in Waves; Vibrations of Marine Pipelines; Mathematical Modelling of Flow-Induced Vibrations. Readership: PhD and MSc students with some experience in basic fluid mechanics, and consulting companies in the areas of marine, offshore, coastal and civil engineering.

Marine Hydrodynamics written by John Nicholas Newman and has been published by MIT Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1977 with Science categories.
A textbook that offers a unified treatment of the applications of hydrodynamics to marine problems. The applications of hydrodynamics to naval architecture and marine engineering expanded dramatically in the 1960s and 1970s. This classic textbook, originally published in 1977, filled the need for a single volume on the applications of hydrodynamics to marine problems. The book is solidly based on fundamentals, but it also guides the student to an understanding of engineering applications through its consideration of realistic configurations. The book takes a balanced approach between theory and empirics, providing the necessary theoretical background for an intelligent evaluation and application of empirical procedures. It also serves as an introduction to more specialized research methods. It unifies the seemingly diverse problems of marine hydrodynamics by examining them not as separate problems but as related applications of the general field of hydrodynamics. The book evolved from a first-year graduate course in MIT's Department of Ocean Engineering. A knowledge of advanced calculus is assumed. Students will find a previous introductory course in fluid dynamics helpful, but the book presents the necessary fundamentals in a self-contained manner. The 40th anniversary of this pioneering book offers a foreword by John Grue. Contents Model Testing " The Motion of a Viscous Fluid " The Motion of an Ideal Fluid " Lifting Surfaces " Waves and Wave Effects " Hydrodynamics of Slender Bodies.

Originally published in 1977, Contact and Conflicthas remained an important book, which has inspired numerous scholars to examine further the relationships between the Indians and the Europeans -- fur traders as well as settlers. For this edition, Robin Fisher has written a new introduction in which he surveys the literature since 1977 and comments on any new insights into these relationships. Fisher contends that the fur trade had originally brought minimal cultural change to the Indians. In 1858 it essentially came to an end, and with the beginning of white settlement, there was a fundamental change in the relationship between Indians and Europeans. What had been a reciprocal system between the two civilizations became a pattern of white dominance. He shows that while the Indians had been able to adjust gradually to the changes introduced by the traders in the contact period, they lost control of their culture under the impact of colonization.

The Theory And Practice Of Hydrodynamics And Vibration written by Subrata Kumar Chakrabarti and has been published by World Scientific Publishing Company this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-11-05 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book covers the basics of the hydrodynamics and vibration of structures subjected to environmental loads. It describes the interaction of hydrodynamics with the associated vibration of structures, giving simple explanations. Emphasis is placed on the applications of the theory to practical problems. Several case studies are provided to show how the theory outlined in the book is applied in the design of structures. Background material needed for understanding fluid-induced vibrations of structures is given to make the book reasonably self-sufficient. Examples are taken mainly from the novel structures that are of interest today, including ocean and offshore structures and components.Besides being a text for undergraduates, this book can serve as a handy reference for design engineers and consultants involved in the design of structures subjected to dynamics and vibration.

Hydrodynamics Of Offshore Structures written by Subrata Kumar Chakrabarti and has been published by WIT Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1987 with Technology & Engineering categories.
The subject of hydrodynamics applied to offshore structures is vast. The topics covered in this book aim to help the reader understand basic principles while at the same time giving the designer enough information for particular designs. Thus, results are given with derivations, and applications are discussed with the aid of examples, with an overview of the advantages and limitations of the method involved. This makes the book suitable as a text for undergraduate and graduate students specializing in offshore and ocean engineering.
