The discovery of superconductivity at 20.3 K in the Nb-Ga system by applying chemical vapor deposition (CVD) techniques to the materials preparation problem is reported. Films on ceramic substrates have been grown with superconducting onsets of up to 20.3 K. Critical fields at 4.2 K in excess of 300 kG and alpha's of 1100,000 T-A/sq cm have been obtained. The results confirm that the outstanding properties of Nb-Ga are due to an equilibrium configuration of the system, namely, the stoichiometric A-15 compound Nb3Ga, which is stable at relatively low temperatures. Practical materials preparation problems center on the codeposition of an adjacent Nb5Ga3 phase and the requirement that the deposition temperature be low. Some ternary alloys were also prepared, with part of the Ga replaced by Sn, Sb, Al, or Ge.

The Rare Elements written by Bogusława Jeżowska-Trzebiatowska and has been published by Elsevier Publishing Company this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1990 with Science categories.
The Rare Elements examines the geological and geochemical aspects of rare elements and describes the different means of recovering them from their natural sources, from semi-finished products and from industrial wastes. After a chapter on the geology and geochemistry of different types of mineral deposits, further chapters deal with the mechanical and chemical beneficiation of ores, and chlorination in rare metals recovery. The theoretical and practical aspects of solvent extraction in connection with the recovery of rare elements are dealt with in great detail in a chapter which reviews a large number of extraction systems and is illustrated by forty solvent extraction diagrams. The final chapter describe pyro- and hydro-metallurgical procedures for recovering the individual elements from their sources, especially from those containing very small or even trace quantities. The value of the book lies in the fact that much of the text is devoted to the hydrometallurgical and solvent extraction techniques used to recover rare elements from sources hitherto regarded as commercially unviable, e.g. from low-content natural sources and from industrial wastes.

Superconductivity Of Transition Metals written by S.V. Vonsovsky and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1982-03 with Science categories.
This book should fill a gap which has existed in the literature on supercon ductivity. There have been a number of excellent textbooks available on the phenomenon of superconductivity, which describe in detail the variety of ef fects connected with it and the mathematical techniques to deal with them properly. However, until now there has not been a textbook available in English which concentrates on the mate~ial aspects of superconductivity. This is a major shortcoming since most physicists working in the field of superconduc tivity are mainly concerned with specific materials and subsequently often need to know more about the interplay of superconductivity and material prop erties. On the other hand, people working in the field know that a competent and well-written book by S. V. Vonsovsky, V. A. Izyumov, and E. Z. Kurmaev has been available in Russian. It presents a thorough discussion of superconducting transition-metal alloys and compounds. This volume is a translation of an updated version of the Russian edition. The translation was done by A. P. Zavarnitsyn of the authors' institution and by Dr. E. H. Brandt of the Max-Planck-Institut fur Metallforschung in Stuttgart. The master manuscript was ably typed by Mrs. C. Pendl. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each of them. I sincerely hope that the book will turn out to be useful to physicists working in the field of superconductivity as well as to nonspecialists and interested graduate students.
