Today’s convergent media industries readily produce stories that span multiple media, telling the tales of superheroes across comics, film and television, inviting audiences to participate in the popular universes across cinema, novels, the Web, and more. This transmedia phenomenon may be a common strategy in Hollywood’s blockbuster fiction factory, tied up with digital marketing and fictional world-building, but transmediality is so much more than global movie franchises. Different cultures around the world are now making new and often far less commercial uses of transmediality, applying this phenomenon to the needs and structures of a nation and re-thinking it in the form of cultural, political and heritage projects. This book offers an exploration of these national and cultural systems of transmediality around the world, showing how national cultures – including politics, people, heritage, traditions, leisure and so on – are informing transmediality in different countries. The book spans four continents and twelve countries, looking across the UK, Spain, Portugal, France, Estonia, USA, Canada, Colombia, Brazil, Japan, India, and Russia.

Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2019 in the subject Communications - Multimedia, Internet, New Technologies, Assam University, language: English, abstract: The topic of this research work propose to understand the impact of New Media Technologies on the undergraduate students of an urban area of North East India, to test if these technologies are having any cultural implications in terms of juxtaposition of multiple cultures. The thesis argues that New Media Applications have brought in a sense of hybrid culture among the youth by affecting the perception and consumption of cultural indicators among college goers. In this age of New Media, it is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish between virtual and real these days. With the burgeoning of technology enabled communication, interactional transactions have become heavily dependent and concentric upon webbed web. Be it social, political or cultural - every aspect of contemporary human sustenance has gone for a toss and a state of interweavements has been attained. In the present day a gamut of digital communication, online tools, applications and technologies have become part and parcel of everyday affairs and even more so in the realms of communication. It is quite obvious that new communication networks empowered with digital technologies and internet are foremost tools which have enabled the enterprise of completely new representation of information production and dissemination, cultural production, management and control.

Diploma Thesis from the year 2002 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Linguistics, grade: Sehr Gut, Klagenfurt University, language: English, abstract: The purpose of this study is to analyse the international online marketing communication strategies of a mobile communications provider that has recently ‘gone global’ from a linguistic point of view. This field of business has so far operated on a local level; through the merger of various companies operating on a national level to form the global player T-Mobile this has become an international business. The present study will compare the linguistic implementation of T-Mobile’s online marketing communication strategies on the corporate as well as two local Internet sites and attempt to filter out possible cross-cultural differences. Since an analysis of all relevant media would deserve more consideration than the purpose and length of this thesis allow, I wish to focus on just one media, the Internet, as this communication channel is exemplar of the ‘open-strategy’ approach of international marketing communications.
