This is an expanded English-language version of a book by the same authors that originally appeared in the Japanese. The book serves two purposes. The first is to provide a self-contained and coherent account of recent developments in geometric function theory in several complex variables, aimed at those who have already mastered the basics of complex function theory and the elementary theory of differential and complex manifolds. The second goal is to present, in a self-contained way, fundamental descriptions of the theory of positive currents, plurisubharmonic functions, and meromorphic mappings, which are today indispensable in the analytic and geometric theories of complex functions of several variables. The book should prove useful for researchers and graduate students alike.

This textbook provides a second course in complex analysis with a focus on geometric aspects. It covers topics such as the spherical geometry of the extended complex plane, the hyperbolic geometry of the Poincaré disk, conformal mappings, the Riemann Mapping Theorem and uniformisation of planar domains, characterisations of simply connected domains, the convergence of Riemann maps in terms of Carathéodory convergence of the image domains, normal families and Picard's theorems on value distribution, as well as the fundamentals of univalent function theory. Throughout the text, the synergy between analysis and geometry is emphasised, with proofs chosen for their directness. The textbook is self-contained, requiring only a first undergraduate course in complex analysis. The minimal topology needed is introduced as necessary. While primarily aimed at upper-level undergraduates, the book also serves as a concise reference for graduates working in complex analysis.

After the positive settlement of Bieberbach's conjecture by Prof. Louis dé Branges, there are new avenues open for researchers in the field of Geometric Function Theory. New directions of research and new problems arising in this field are mainly considered in this proceedings.

Geometric Function Theory is that part of Complex Analysis which covers the theory of conformal and quasiconformal mappings. Beginning with the classical Riemann mapping theorem, there is a lot of existence theorems for canonical conformal mappings. On the other side there is an extensive theory of qualitative properties of conformal and quasiconformal mappings, concerning mainly a prior estimates, so called distortion theorems (including the Bieberbach conjecture with the proof of the Branges). Here a starting point was the classical Scharz lemma, and then Koebe's distortion theorem. There are several connections to mathematical physics, because of the relations to potential theory (in the plane). The Handbook of Geometric Function Theory contains also an article about constructive methods and further a Bibliography including applications eg: to electroxtatic problems, heat conduction, potential flows (in the plane). · A collection of independent survey articles in the field of GeometricFunction Theory · Existence theorems and qualitative properties of conformal and quasiconformal mappings · A bibliography, including many hints to applications in electrostatics, heat conduction, potential flows (in the plane).

This unique book explores the connections between the geometry of mappings and many important areas of modern mathematics such as Harmonic and non-linear Analysis, the theory of Partial Differential Equations, Conformal Geometry and Topology. Much of the book is new. It aims to provide students and researchers in many areas with a comprehensive and up to date account and an overview of the subject as a whole.
