Designing complex programs such as operating systems, compilers, filing systems, data base systems, etc. is an old ever lasting research area. Genetic programming is a relatively new promising and growing research area. Among other uses, it provides efficient tools to deal with hard problems by evolving creative and competitive solutions. Systems Programming is generally strewn with such hard problems. This book is devoted to reporting innovative and significant progress about the contribution of genetic programming in systems programming. The contributions of this book clearly demonstrate that genetic programming is very effective in solving hard and yet-open problems in systems programming. Followed by an introductory chapter, in the remaining contributed chapters, the reader can easily learn about systems where genetic programming can be applied successfully. These include but are not limited to, information security systems, compilers, data mining systems, stock market prediction systems, robots and automatic programming.

Self Modifying Systems In Biology And Cognitive Science written by G. Kampis and has been published by Pergamon this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1991-04-30 with Computers categories.
The theme of this book is the self-generation of information by the self-modification of systems. The author explains why biological and cognitive processes exhibit identity changes in the mathematical and logical sense. This concept is the basis of a new organizational principle which utilizes shifts of the internal semantic relations in systems. There are mathematical discussions of various classes of systems (Turing machines, input-output systems, synergetic systems, non-linear dynamics etc), which are contrasted with the author's new principle. The most important implications of this include a new conception on the nature of information and which also provides a new and coherent conceptual view of a wide class of natural systems. This book merits the attention of all philosophers and scientists concerned with the way we create reality in our mathematical representations of the world and the connection those representations have with the way things really are.

This book is written by a mathematician and a theoretical biologist who have arrived at a good mutual understanding and a well worked-out common notation. The reader need hardly be convinced of the necessity of such a mutual understanding, not only for the two investigators, but also for the sciences they represent. Like Moliere's hero, geneticists are gradually beginning to understand that, unknowingly, they have been speaking in the language of cybernetics. Mathematicians are unexpec tedly discovering that many past and present problems and methods of genetics can be naturally formulated in the language of graph theory. In this way a powerful abstract mathematical theory suddenly finds a productive application. Moreover, in its turn, such an application be gins to "feed" the mathematical theory by presenting it with a number of new problems. The reader may judge for himself the fruitfulness of such mutual interaction. At the same time several important circumstances need to be men tioned. The formalization and rigorous formulation given here embraces not only the older problems, known by geneticists for many decades (the construction of genetic maps, the analysis of complementation, etc. ), but also comparatively new problems: the construction of partial com plementation maps, phylogenetic trees of proteins, etc.
