A History Of The Music For Wind Band written by Leon J. Bly and has been published by LIT Verlag Münster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023 with Music categories.
The book provides a historical survey of the wind band’s music and denotes how historical and cultural developments have influenced it over the course of time. Although the modern wind band developed first in the 19th century, it has its roots in the wind music of ancient times, and music survives that has been composed since the Middle Ages. Therefore, this book covers the music from that time to the present, including the dance music of the Renaissance, the Harmoniemusik of the Classical Period, and the nationalistic music of the Romantic Period, as well as the major wind band repertoire developed after 1900.

The Career Of An Eighteenth Century Kapellmeister written by Sterling E. Murray and has been published by Boydell & Brewer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014 with Biography & Autobiography categories.
A unique look at the career of a little-known contemporary of Haydn and Mozart, presented against a fascinating background of court musical life in late eighteenth-century Germany.Today the classical style is defined by the music of a handful of composers, Haydn and Mozart being the most prominent. As a result, the accomplishments of these masters have all but eclipsed the music of most of their contemporaries. In this book, Sterling Murray examines one of the most talented of this group, Antonio Rosetti. Born around 1750 and trained in Bohemia, Rosetti spent most of his creative life in Germany, where he served as music director to the Prince of Oettingen-Wallerstein between 1773 and 1789 and then the Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin until his death in 1792. The Career of an Eighteenth-Century Kapellmeister offers the first comprehensive study of Rosetti's life. The events of the composer's biography are unfolded against a vivid picture of musical life at the two small German courts where Rosetti was employed. The second half of the book is devoted to an examination of formand style in Rosetti's music, illustrated with full-score musical examples in the text and on a complementary website. What emerges from this investigation is a portrait of a composer who, having conquered the stylistic languageof his day, challenged those conventions to produce imaginative and highly creative works of great beauty. Sterling E. Murray is professor emeritus of the School of Music at West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

The Moravians, or Bohemian Brethren, early Protestants who settled in Pennsylvania and North Carolina in the eighteenth century, brought a musical repertoire that included hymns, sacred vocal works accompanied by chamber orchestra, and instrumental music by the best-known European composers of the day. Moravian composers -- mostly pastors and teachers trained in the styles and genres of the Haydn-Mozart era -- crafted thousands of compositions for worship, and copied and collected thousands of instrumental works for recreation and instruction. The book's chapters examine sacred and secular works, both for instruments -- including piano solo -- and for voices. The Music of the Moravian Church demonstrates the varied roles that music played in one of America's most distinctive ethno-cultural populations, and presents many distinctive pieces that performers and audiences continue to find rewarding. Contributors: Alice M. Caldwell, C. Daniel Crews, Lou Carol Fix, Pauline M. Fox, Albert H. Frank, Nola Reed Knouse, Laurence Libin, Paul M. Peucker, and Jewel A. Smith. Nola Reed Knouse, director of the Moravian Music Foundation since 1994, is active as a flautist, composer, and arranger. She is the editor of The Collected Wind Music of David Moritz Michael.

As a companion to The Wind Ensemble Sourcebook and Biographical Guide, this catalog provides a comprehensive listing of wind ensemble works from 1650 to the present. These two volumes will be completed with a third, The Wind Ensemble Thematic Catalog 1700-1900. Representing more than 20 years of research through libraries, monasteries, and castles, the authors used primary sources when possible rather than relying on secondary sources. The authors collected a vast array of information from public and private international collections. This catalog is an exhaustive guide to international wind ensemble collections. The authors have been careful to match up various versions of the same work, and, for the first time, arrangements—an important and large part of the repertoire—are dealt with in a systematic fashion. Unique in its extensive documentation and reliance on primary sources, The Wind Ensemble Catalog is an important research tool for scholars and musicians.
