The increasing complexity of financial problems and the enormous volume of financial data often make it difficult to apply traditional modeling and algorithmic procedures. In this context, the field of computational intelligence provides an arsenal of particularly useful techniques. These techniques include new modeling tools for decision making under risk and uncertainty, data mining techniques for analyzing complex data bases, and powerful algorithms for complex optimization problems. Computational intelligence has also evolved rapidly over the past few years and it is now one of the most active fields in operations research and computer science. This volume presents the recent advances of the use of computation intelligence in financial decision making. The book covers all the major areas of computational intelligence and a wide range of problems in finance, such as portfolio optimization, credit risk analysis, asset valuation, financial forecasting, and trading.

Agent Based Computational Economics written by Shu-Heng Chen and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-09-19 with Business & Economics categories.

This book aims to answer two questions that are fundamental to the study of agent-based economic models: what is agent-based computational economics and why do we need agent-based economic modelling of economy? This book provides a review of the development of agent-based computational economics (ACE) from a perspective on how artificial economic agents are designed under the influences of complex sciences, experimental economics, artificial intelligence, evolutionary biology, psychology, anthropology and neuroscience. This book begins with a historical review of ACE by tracing its origins. From a modelling viewpoint, ACE brings truly decentralized procedures into market analysis, from a single market to the whole economy. This book also reviews how experimental economics and artificial intelligence have shaped the development of ACE. For the former, the book discusses how ACE models can be used to analyse the economic consequences of cognitive capacity, personality and cultural inheritance. For the latter, the book covers the various tools used to construct artificial adaptive agents, including reinforcement learning, fuzzy decision rules, neural networks, and evolutionary computation. This book will be of interest to graduate students researching computational economics, experimental economics, behavioural economics, and research methodology.

Condition Monitoring Using Computational Intelligence Methods promotes the various approaches gathered under the umbrella of computational intelligence to show how condition monitoring can be used to avoid equipment failures and lengthen its useful life, minimize downtime and reduce maintenance costs. The text introduces various signal-processing and pre-processing techniques, wavelets and principal component analysis, for example, together with their uses in condition monitoring and details the development of effective feature extraction techniques classified into frequency-, time-frequency- and time-domain analysis. Data generated by these techniques can then be used for condition classification employing tools such as: • fuzzy systems; rough and neuro-rough sets; neural and Bayesian networks;hidden Markov and Gaussian mixture models; and support vector machines.

In a world increasingly characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA) and, more recently, brittleness, anxiety, nonlinearity, and incomprehensibility (BANI), both business and education stand at a critical crossroads. Organizations and learning institutions must now evolve to remain relevant and resilient in this turbulent landscape. The urgent need for adaptive thinking and emotional agility is essential now to navigate disruption while fostering innovation and human-centered growth. In this new era, success depends not on predicting the future, but on developing the capacity to adapt and lead through constant change. Smart Business and Education in the Age of VUCA and BANI explores how smart technologies and data-driven innovation are transforming business and education in the VUCA and BANI world. It highlights adaptive strategies, digital inclusion, and AI-driven practices in shaping sustainable and equitable futures. Covering topics such as technological advancements, business innovation, and artificial intelligence, this book is an excellent resource for academicians, researchers, business leaders, global economists, educational administrators and leaders, policymakers, educators, and more.

The material presented in the book is divided into two main parts: Keynotes, and Case Studies. Five keynotes written by W. Pedrycz, D. Dubois and H. Prade, M.M. Gupta, P.M. Frank, and T. Kaczorek deal with: introduction into the concept and basic technologies of computational intelligence (CI), role of fuzzy logic in information engineering, paradigms of fuzzy neural computing, intelligent methods in fault diagnosis of technical plants, and with models of two-dimensional (2D) systems which are useful in analysis of methods manifesting the learning ability, respectively. The second part provides the reader with a sampling of various applications of the methods (neural networks, genetic algorithms, fuzzy, and evolutionary systems) being the building blocks of the CI. However, a few contributions exceed this rather stiff frame of CI-definition.

The focus of this volume is Heterogeneous Knowledge and Problem Solving Integration'', i.e. the combined use of different knowledge representation and problem solving paradigms. This is a central topic for the design and implementation of problem solving systems, since, from a pragmatic and engineering standpoint, the solution of a large class of problems cannot take place within one single representation language or problem solving paradigm. Heterogeneous systems represent not only a pragmatic answer, but also a theoretical alternative to the homogeneous paradigms.

Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2012 in the subject Computer Sciences - Artificial Intelligence, grade: none, Jawaharlal Nehru University , language: English, abstract: Human started making machinery that can do the job for them. The technology developed so much that it started involving many other branches of engineering such as electronics, robotics etc. This eventually led to much more complex and smart machinery involving Artificial Intelligence. Reinforcement Learning is a type of Machine Learning, and thereby also a branch of Artificial Intelligence. It allows machines and software agents to automatically determine the ideal behavior within a specific context, in order to maximize its performance. Reinforcement Learning (RL) comes from the animal learning theory. RL does not need prior knowledge, it can autonomously get optional policy with the knowledge obtained by trial- and-error and continuously interact with dynamic environment. As a matter of fact, Reinforcement Learning is defined by a specific type of problem, and all its solutions are classed as Reinforcement Learning algorithms. In the problem, an agent is supposed decide the best action to select based on its current state. When this step is repeated, the problem is known as a Markov Decision Process. A Markov Decision Process is a discrete time stochastic control process. At each time step, the process is in some state s, and the decision maker may choose any action that is available in state‘s’. Markov Decision Process provides a mathematical framework for modeling decision-making in situations where outcomes are partly random and partly under the control of a decision maker.
