For a year, the author observed a multi-grade inclusion classroom and supported the teachers as needed in their implementation of the Technology Enhanced Literacy Learning Environments (TELE-Web). TELE-Web is designed with built-in features to scaffold the literacy learning and performances by students with learning disabilities. The underlying assumption of this qualitative study is that technologies must be understood in relation to the larger systems of practices mediated by other artifacts, tools, and participants who have distinctive pedagogical beliefs. The overriding question is "how is TELE-Web implemented, for what purposes, and when?" Drawing on Activity Theory and the Information Ecology framework, the study unfolds the technology implementation process in the classroom. Readers of this book will gain insight into the mediating role of technology as embedded in the interdependent relationship between the technology and other participating "species" in the classroom activity settings. The students' uses of TELE-Web also allow readers to further inquire about the relationship between technologies and least restrictive environments for students with learning disabilities.

Inclusive Technology Enhanced Learning draws together a remarkable breadth of research findings from across the field, providing useful data on the power of technology to solve cognitive, physical, emotional or geographic challenges in education. A far-ranging assessment, this book combines research, policy, and practical evidence to show what digital technologies work best for which learners and why. Inclusive Technology Enhanced Learning takes a number of unique perspectives, looking at uses of digital technologies through a detailed learning framework; considering different groups of users and how they can be individually supported through digital technologies; and exploring how those who support different categories of learners can apply technologies to their specific support needs. This powerful meta-analysis of research on technology enhanced learning will be invaluable reading for anyone concerned with the impacts of digital technologies on learning across subject areas, age ranges, and levels of ability.

"Despite the bustling technological landscape in which we live and learn, technology is still limited in its integration within classrooms. The current drive in education to promote 21st-century skills and digital literacies appears to remain relatively idle for a variety of reasons. This mixed-methods study examines the impact 1:1 technology has on digital literacies and the barriers faced by teachers with its incorporation into secondary classrooms. It explores the extent to which instructors within 1:1 environments perceive their technology integration and investigates how this indirectly impacts the acquisition of digital literacies within the classroom. By gaining more insight into how technology and digital literacy skills are integrated into 1:1 classrooms, we may gain insight into current integration practices as well as barriers to implementation, furthering literature in this area. Moreover, this research may enable educational systems to effectively align beliefs, research, and practice to support teachers in meeting newly adopted technologies and digital literacy standards."--Boise State University ScholarWorks.
