Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2014 in the subject Economics - International Economic Relations, -, language: English, abstract: This research paper attempts to explain how and to what extent the European economy has changed in response to major events occurred over the last two decades. The analysis draws upon Darwin’s theory of evolution to clarify why the adaptation process to the new economic environment has not been uniform across the Old Continent and notably why some countries have performed better than others. From an evolutionary perspective, special attention is given to the Italian and German economies, as the competitive gap between them has greatly widened in recent years, raising serious concerns about the political and economic stability of the European Union. Investigating the reasons underlying these asymmetric results provides useful information about the characteristics that the new international economic environment has discarded through a process of natural selection and those which have proved to be successful by giving a competitive advantage in the “struggle for existence”.

The Evolving Economy written by Ulrich Witt and has been published by Edward Elgar Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003 with Evolutionary economics categories.
Change manifests itself in all facets of the economy. This important collection of previously published essays illustrates how the evolutionary approach can reveal not only where change comes from, and how it happens, but also where it will lead. The Evolving Economy covers a broad spectrum of issues ranging from the biological foundations of economic behavior to the co-evolution of firms, markets, and institutions. Ulrich Witt's individualistic approach synthesizes elements familiar from the writings of Veblen and Schumpeter on economic evolution. A conceptual debate on what the notion of evolution means in the economic context is as much emphasized as is the discussion of concrete hypotheses explaining why and how evolutionary economic change comes about. Offering an outline of a paradigm focusing on endogenous economic change, this book will be of great interest to economists and economic historians. Sociologists, philosophers and anthropologists will also find this work invaluable as it presents an encompassing assessment of the role of Darwinian thought for understanding human behavior and societal evolutio

The Origin Of Wealth written by Eric Beinhocker and has been published by Random House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-12-06 with Business & Economics categories.
Economics is changing radically. This paradigm shift, the biggest in the field for over a century, will have profound implications for business, government and society for decades to come. In this groundbreaking book, economic thinker and writer Eric Beinhocker surveys the cutting-edge ideas of the leading economists, physicists, biologists and cognitive scientists who are fundamentally reshaping economics, and brings their work alive for a broad audience. These researchers argue that the economy is a 'complex adaptive system', more akin to the brain, the internet or an ecosystem than to the static picture of economic systems portrayed by traditional theory. They claim it is the evolutionary process of differentiation, selection and amplification, acting on designs for technologies, social institutions and businesses that drives growth in the economy over time. If Adam Smith provided the inspiration for economics in the twentieth century, it is Charles Darwin who is providing it in the twenty-first. If we can understand how evolution creates wealth, then we can better answer the question 'How can we create more wealth for the benefit of individuals, businesses and society?' Beinhocker shows how 'Complexity Economics' turns conventional wisdom on its head in areas such as business strategy, the design of organisations, the workings of stock markets and public policy. As sweeping in scope as its title, The Origin of Wealth is a landmark book that shatters orthodox economic theory, and will rewire our thinking about how we came to be here - and where we are going.
