In today's world, technology evolves faster than most organizations can adapt. New tools emerge daily, markets shift overnight, and yesterday's best practices quickly become obsolete. Amid this constant disruption, success no longer depends on simply launching digital initiatives-it depends on making transformation stick. This book is a practical roadmap for leaders, managers, and teams who are tired of short-lived change efforts. It bridges the gap between strategy and execution by blending business discipline with human-centered coaching. Through real-world case studies, actionable frameworks, and reflective exercises, it shows how to turn ambition into measurable results-while keeping people engaged and accountable. More than a guide to digital transformation, this book is about building the habits, mindsets, and systems that make change sustainable. Because real transformation doesn't happen when technology is installed-it happens when people believe in the change, own it, and keep improving long after the rollout ends.

In this book, leading CEOs, CIOs and experts from international corporations explore the role of digitalization and cloud-based processes as the main business drivers of the 21st century. Focusing on how to get started with digitalization and how to handle the technologies involved, they employ analyses and practical case studies to demonstrate how to unleash the potential offered by the cloud, and how to achieve the most critical success factors – quality and security – through the right partnerships. Readers will discover why the cloud will soon take over the driver’s seat in cars, and why Heineken CIO Anne Teague claims that innovation is impossible without high-quality IT. The book reveals what IT managers can learn from Silicon Valley and China today, and why Deutsche Telekom CEO Tim Hoettges believes Europe’s future depends on successful digitalization. In a closing strategic assessment, the editor Ferri Abolhassan presents the cloud as the essential backbone of digitalization. In short, the book provides readers the first comprehensive, high-level assessment of cloud-based digital transformation in the era of Industry 4.0.

It is free to read at Oxford Scholarship Online and offered as a free PDF download from OUP and selected open access locations. In one country, the prime minister pushes for the liberalization of digital finance as a central pillar of the country's national strategy, while the central bank almost makes it a criminal offence. In another, the digital minister tries to scupper the very process to support digital transformation that the president has asked them to co-lead. This book gives a ringside seat on seven developing countries' tumultuous early steps on the path to a reform of the economy and the government using technology. Written by a group of academics and practitioners from Oxford at the heart of the process, but foregrounding the voices of the policymakers and participants, this book documents and critically assesses efforts to assist a set of governments to kick-start digital transformation. In doing so, it offers lessons for policymakers in other countries who want to pursue similar efforts. Beyond that, however, it is also an exposition of the process of policymaking more generally in the 2020s, and offers broader insight into how outsiders can play a sensible role in other reform processes in developing and emerging countries.
