See Me, See You is the world’s first exhibition of early video installation of Southeast Asia, spanning the early 1980s to the early 1990s. This catalogue traces the journeys and evolving identities of the ten artists featured in the show and their pivotal experiments with the moving image, which incorporate readymade objects and cathode-ray tube television monitors as well as performative and participatory elements. Their artworks encapsulate the techniques and materials of their generation and mark the emergence of video installation as a form in the region. The publication features interviews, essays, rare archival images and texts, as well as a timeline that highlights the definitive technological moments and inventions that propelled television and video in global and regional contexts.

Artistic media seem to be in a permanent condition of mutation and transformation. Contemporary artists often investigate the limits and possibilities of the media they use and experiment with the crossing, upgrading and mutilation of media. Others explicitly explore the unknown intermedial space between existing media, searching for the hybrid beings that occupy these in-betweens. This issue of Theater Topics explores the theme of mutating and adapting media in its relation with theatre and performance.Bringing together international scholars and artists, this book provides a comprehensive overview of the subject. Throughout, Bastard or Playmate? is responsive to the cross-disciplinary use of key concepts such as remediation, digitization, interactivity, corporeality, liveness, surveillance, spectacle, performativity and theatricality. The book guides readers new to the area of intermediality, as well as experienced researchers into one of the most dynamic fields of scholarship.Bastard or Playmate? Adapting Theatre, Mutating Media and the Contemporary Performing Arts is the fifth issue of the series Theater Topics. Due to the increased global political importance of the nonprofit sector, its technological support and organizational characteristics have become important fields of research. In order to conduct effective work, nonprofits need to communicate and coordinate effectively. However, such settings are generally characterized by a lack of resources, an absence of formal hierarchical structures and differences in languages and culture among the activists. Modern technologies could help nonprofit networks in improving their working. In order to design appropriate technological support for such settings, it is important to understand their work practices, which widely differ from traditional business organizations. This book aims to strengthen the body of knowledge by providing user studies and concepts related to user centered technology design process for nonprofit settings. The examination of ethnographic studies and user centered evaluation of IT artifacts in practice will further the understanding of design requirements of these systems. This book includes chapters from leading scholars and practitioners on the technology design process examining human centered factors. The chapters will focus on developed and developing countries as they both have unique issues in technology design. The book will be useful or of interest to academics from a range of fields including information systems, human computer interaction, computer supported cooperative work and organizational science as well as for government officials and governmental organizations.
