This book presents the current state of the art and practice of DE through 12 case exemplars. From evaluation pioneer Michael Quinn Patton, this book introduces the principles-focused evaluation (P-FE) approach and demonstrates its relevance and application in a range of settings. Patton explains why principles matter for program development and evaluation and how they can serve as a rudder to navigate the uncertainties, turbulence, and emergent challenges of complex dynamic environments. In-depth exemplars illustrate how the unique GUIDE framework is used to determine whether principles provide meaningful guidance (G) and are useful (U), inspiring (I), developmentally adaptable (D), and evaluable (E). User-friendly features include rubrics, a P-FE checklist, firsthand reflections and examples from experienced P-FE practitioners, sidebars and summary tables, and end-of-chapter application exercises. ÿ

Enduring Issues In Evaluation The 20th Anniversary Of The Collaboration Between Nde And Aea written by Sandra Mathison and has been published by Jossey-Bass this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-06-29 with Education categories.

This issue of New Directions for Evaluation looks back at the past twenty years of the American Evaluation Association, from its inception to current research, highlighting important moments and enduring issues in the discipline and profession of evaluation. The issue includes a very brief history of NDE--including the journal's purpose, the various foci, how the journal has operated, and such events as the change in the journal's name. The issue also looks at the substance of NDE over the past twenty years, including an analysis of the coverage of cultural diversity issues. But much of the issue is devoted to "greatest hits" chapters that have appeared in prior NDE issues, each of which is introduced by an analysis of what makes it a significant contribution to the evaluation literature. The American Evaluation Association (AEA) celebrated its twentieth birthday in 2006. The partnership between AEA and New Directions for Evaluation has spanned this time and indeed stretches back further to AEA's precursor associations, the Evaluation Research Society and ENet. This is the 114th volume of the quarterly report series New Directions for Evaluation, a publication of Jossey-Bass and the American Evaluation Association.

This book presents a comprehensive treatment of the subject of evaluation as applied to literacy programs, covering evaluation theory, planning, and practice. Part I discusses questions of definition, context, objectives, and functions of evaluation and presents descriptions and analyses of evaluation paradigms and models. In Part II, the interrelated processes of evaluation planning and management are discussed, and evaluation planning and management approaches are explained and demonstrated. Parts III, IV, and V focus on the three components of the evaluation management approach discussed in Part II: management information systems (MIS), naturalistic evaluation (NE), and rationalistic evaluation (RE). Chapters in these parts cover: (1) theory, questions, and design of an MIS, NE, or RE; (2) writing a proposal for an MIS or for an evaluation study in the naturalistic or rationalistic mode; (3) tools and techniques of the three approaches; and (4) writing periodical and special reports. Part VI discusses the politics of evaluation, the need to establish evaluation standards for meta-evaluations, and the related question of evaluators' training. A glossary is appended. (YLB)
