Examining nationalist narratives, historiographies, memorials, biographies, oral life stories and nostalgic commemorations, the dissertation demonstrates how these discourses are constituting a collective sense of a "Chinese-educated generation." This generation is resurrecting the past to orient this public toward an Indonesian future.
