Current Trends On Knowledge Based Systems written by Giner Alor-Hernández and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-03-13 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book presents innovative and high-quality research on the implementation of conceptual frameworks, strategies, techniques, methodologies, informatics platforms and models for developing advanced knowledge-based systems and their application in different fields, including Agriculture, Education, Automotive, Electrical Industry, Business Services, Food Manufacturing, Energy Services, Medicine and others. Knowledge-based technologies employ artificial intelligence methods to heuristically address problems that cannot be solved by means of formal techniques. These technologies draw on standard and novel approaches from various disciplines within Computer Science, including Knowledge Engineering, Natural Language Processing, Decision Support Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Databases, Software Engineering, etc. As a combination of different fields of Artificial Intelligence, the area of Knowledge-Based Systems applies knowledge representation, case-based reasoning, neural networks, Semantic Web and TICs used in different domains. The book offers a valuable resource for PhD students, Master’s and undergraduate students of Information Technology (IT)-related degrees such as Computer Science, Information Systems and Electronic Engineering.

This tutorial text, a collection of selected papers preceded by extensive introductory material, is intended particularly for practicing computer engineers and scientists, as well as for advanced undergraduate or graduate students who want to refine their conceptual and practical appreciation of the fundamentals and tools of knowledge-based systems. The goal in choosing the 35 papers reviewed, which covers a publication span of nine years, is to both bring forth the recent and rapid evolution of the field, and give a brief and up-to-date account of where we stand today. This tutorial-integrated presentation selects papers that present fundamentals and tools, and provide copious references to other work in applications and research. The aim is to put into perspective the range of what is possible, and to avoid common pitfalls in the definition, development, management, and use of knowledge-based systems.

"Methodological knowledge acquisition and knowledge engineering have achievedincreasing attention in recent years due both to active research projects and to successful practical applications. Both aspects have over the years been reflected in the structure of the European Knowledge Acquisition Workshops (EKAW), where a users' forum has always been combined with a scientific workshop. This volume contains the proceedings of EKAW-92. The papers are organized into five thematic sectionson: - Technology transfer - General modelling approaches - Knowledgeformalization and automated methods - Elicitation and diagnosis of human knowledge - Practice and experiences of knowledge acquisition. A total of 65 persons from around the world served as the program committee. Their recommendations and sometimes very detailed comments helped both workshop organizers and individual authors to achieve the high quality reflected in this volume."--PUBLISHER'S WEBSITE.

In 1983, the Commission of the European Communities launched an ambitious 10 year programme in information technology called ESPRIT: European Strategic Programme for Research and Development in Information Technology. The papers in this volume focus on the contributions of the second phase of the programme, ESPRIT II, to the area of knowledge engineering, and more specifically, on the trend towards more disciplined knowledge engineering methodologies. An attempt has been made to establish a coherent volume that will act as a lasting reference source for experts in the field. This has lead to a focus on a small number of projects and topics. Further, contributions have been sourced primarily from those that have established a significant advance in respect of the international state of the art, without losing sight of practical realisability and industrial acceptance. The book captures work centering around the concept of knowledge-level modelling and its use in structuring the complete life-cycle, validating expert systems, acquiring knowledge, enhancing capabilities and achieving genericity and re-use. It shows the high quality and the advanced nature of the research currently being undertaken and indicates that important innovations of extreme relevance to the industry have been achieved. However, further research and advanced development clearly continues to be needed because the European information technology has far from reached the level of competitiveness required to acquire a greater international market share. It is hoped this publication will play an important role in this movement forwards.
