Computer Intensive Methods For Testing Hypotheses written by Eric W. Noreen and has been published by Wiley-Interscience this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1989-05-02 with Mathematics categories.

How to use computer-intensive methods to assess the significance of a statistic in an hypothesis test--for both statisticians and nonstatisticians alike. The significance of almost any test can be assessed using one of the methods presented here, for the techniques given are very general (e.g. virtually every nonparametric statistical test is a special case of one of the methods covered). Programs presented are brief, easy to read, require minimal programming, and can be run on most PC's. They also serve as templates adaptable to a wide range of applications. Includes numerous illustrations of how to apply computer-intensive methods.

Design Science Methodology For Information Systems And Software Engineering written by Roel J. Wieringa and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-11-19 with Computers categories.

This book provides guidelines for practicing design science in the fields of information systems and software engineering research. A design process usually iterates over two activities: first designing an artifact that improves something for stakeholders and subsequently empirically investigating the performance of that artifact in its context. This “validation in context” is a key feature of the book - since an artifact is designed for a context, it should also be validated in this context. The book is divided into five parts. Part I discusses the fundamental nature of design science and its artifacts, as well as related design research questions and goals. Part II deals with the design cycle, i.e. the creation, design and validation of artifacts based on requirements and stakeholder goals. To elaborate this further, Part III presents the role of conceptual frameworks and theories in design science. Part IV continues with the empirical cycle to investigate artifacts in context, and presents the different elements of research problem analysis, research setup and data analysis. Finally, Part V deals with the practical application of the empirical cycle by presenting in detail various research methods, including observational case studies, case-based and sample-based experiments and technical action research. These main sections are complemented by two generic checklists, one for the design cycle and one for the empirical cycle. The book is written for students as well as academic and industrial researchers in software engineering or information systems. It provides guidelines on how to effectively structure research goals, how to analyze research problems concerning design goals and knowledge questions, how to validate artifact designs and how to empirically investigate artifacts in context – and finally how to present the results of the design cycle as a whole.

Randomization Bootstrap And Monte Carlo Methods In Biology written by Bryan F.J. Manly and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-03 with Mathematics categories.

Modern computer-intensive statistical methods play a key role in solving many problems across a wide range of scientific disciplines. This new edition of the bestselling Randomization, Bootstrap and Monte Carlo Methods in Biology illustrates the value of a number of these methods with an emphasis on biological applications. This textbook focuses on three related areas in computational statistics: randomization, bootstrapping, and Monte Carlo methods of inference. The author emphasizes the sampling approach within randomization testing and confidence intervals. Similar to randomization, the book shows how bootstrapping, or resampling, can be used for confidence intervals and tests of significance. It also explores how to use Monte Carlo methods to test hypotheses and construct confidence intervals. New to the Third Edition Updated information on regression and time series analysis, multivariate methods, survival and growth data as well as software for computational statistics References that reflect recent developments in methodology and computing techniques Additional references on new applications of computer-intensive methods in biology Providing comprehensive coverage of computer-intensive applications while also offering data sets online, Randomization, Bootstrap and Monte Carlo Methods in Biology, Third Edition supplies a solid foundation for the ever-expanding field of statistics and quantitative analysis in biology.

The Design And Analysis Of Research Studies written by Bryan F. J. Manly and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1992-05-14 with Education categories.

This book provides research workers with the statistical background needed in order to collect and analyze data in an intelligent and critical manner. Key examples and case studies are used to illustrate commonly encountered research problems and to explain how they may be solved or even avoided altogether. Professor Manly also presents a clear understanding of the opportunities and limitations of different research designs, as well as an introduction to some new methods of analysis that are proving increasingly popular. Topics covered include: the differences between observational and experimental studies, the design of sample surveys, multiple regression, interrupted time series, computer intensive statistics, and the ethical considerations of research. In the final chapter, there is a discussion of how the various components of a research study come together.
