Collecting Spatial Data written by Werner G. Müller and has been published by Physica this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1998-10-20 with Business & Economics categories.

The book is concerned with the statistical theory for locating spatial sensors. It bridges the gap between spatial statistics and optimum design theory. After introductions to those two fields the topics of exploratory designs and designs for spatial trend and variogram estimation are treated. A new methodology, so-called approximate information matrices, are employed to cope with the problem of correlated observations. A great number of relevant references are collected and put into a common perspective. The theoretical investigations are accompanied by a practical example, the redesign of an Upper-Austrian air pollution monitoring network. The reader will find respective theory and recommendations on how to efficiently plan a specific purpose spatial monitoring network.

This book builds on the previous book by the same authors, An Introduction to R for Spatial Analysis and Mapping, to consider Spatial Data (ie the location attached to data), issues of inference, linking Big Data, Geography / GIS / Mapping and Spatial Analytics. A ‘learning by doing’ text book, it covers important theoretical issues and helps to develop practical skills in the reader for addressing these.

How To Do Locative Mapping And Data Collection Using Smartphones written by Maarten Groen and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022 with Spatial data mining categories.

Locative mapping with smartphones is the process of collecting geolocative data using mobile applications, with the data typically being visualized using maps. When such spatial data is collected, the researcher is usually interested in more than just the locations individuals have visited. Spatial data can show how individuals interact with their social and physical environments. Using smartphones for data collection allows the researcher to move beyond geotracking and to include different pieces of information, such as photos or recordings which can be connected to location data. Considerations such as what types of data you want to collect and who you want to collect data from greatly influence how to design your data collection process. In this guide, we will introduce you to the process of locative mapping and collecting spatial data with smartphones and offer advice to help you choose the most suitable software for your project. We will also discuss how the data collection process can be paired with participatory methods to gain deeper insights into the data collected.

An Introduction To Spatial Data Analysis written by Martin Wegmann and has been published by Pelagic Publishing Ltd this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-09-14 with Science categories.

This is a book about how ecologists can integrate remote sensing and GIS in their research. It will allow readers to get started with the application of remote sensing and to understand its potential and limitations. Using practical examples, the book covers all necessary steps from planning field campaigns to deriving ecologically relevant information through remote sensing and modelling of species distributions. An Introduction to Spatial Data Analysis introduces spatial data handling using the open source software Quantum GIS (QGIS). In addition, readers will be guided through their first steps in the R programming language. The authors explain the fundamentals of spatial data handling and analysis, empowering the reader to turn data acquired in the field into actual spatial data. Readers will learn to process and analyse spatial data of different types and interpret the data and results. After finishing this book, readers will be able to address questions such as “What is the distance to the border of the protected area?”, “Which points are located close to a road?”, “Which fraction of land cover types exist in my study area?” using different software and techniques. This book is for novice spatial data users and does not assume any prior knowledge of spatial data itself or practical experience working with such data sets. Readers will likely include student and professional ecologists, geographers and any environmental scientists or practitioners who need to collect, visualize and analyse spatial data. The software used is the widely applied open source scientific programs QGIS and R. All scripts and data sets used in the book will be provided online at book.ecosens.org. This book covers specific methods including: what to consider before collecting in situ data how to work with spatial data collected in situ the difference between raster and vector data how to acquire further vector and raster data how to create relevant environmental information how to combine and analyse in situ and remote sensing data how to create useful maps for field work and presentations how to use QGIS and R for spatial analysis how to develop analysis scripts

This research project developed prototype software to automate the processing of raw GPS data and to generate outputs of activity-travel patterns in the conventional travel-diary format. The software identifies trips and characterizes them by several attributes, including trip-end locations, trip purpose, time of day, distance, and speed. This final report documents the entire research performed as part of this project. Specifically, the authors present the conceptual overview of the software, the detailed algorithm for extracting travel diaries, the software implementation procedures, and the testing and validation of the software.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are computer-based tools for the entry, maintenance, and analysis of spatially-referenced data. GIS are critical for effective resource management, and have been applied across a wide range of science, business, and government endevours. This book provides an introduction to the theory and application of GIS. It is written for use in an introductory GIS class and as a reference for the GIS practitioner. This third edition balances theoretical and applied material, so that students may apply knowledge of GIS in the solution of real-world problems. Improvements over the previous editions are included in each chapter. Topics treated include an introduction to GIS, spatial data models, map projections, data entry, image data, GPS, digital data, database systems in GIS, general spatial analysis, raster analysis, terrain modeling, metadate, standards, and accuracy assessments.
