Christianity is one of the world’s great religions, with more than two thousand years of history and over two billion adherents worldwide. But what is Christianity? Where did it come from? How did it develop to its current forms? What doctrines do Christians affirm? What ethical norms do they endorse? What relationships between church and state do they champion, and why? What changes have transpired for the faith over the centuries? And what new challenges does Christianity face in the contemporary world? These and other questions are addressed in Michael Robinson’s Christianity: A Brief History. After a concise description of the social, political, and religious world of first-century Palestine, the text quickly examines the Jesus of history and tradition, including Jesus’ impact upon his first-century followers; the narrative then moves to describe the expansions and developments of Christianity through the ancient, medieval, modern, and contemporary eras. Along the way, readers learn of the varied beliefs, mores, rituals, struggles, and triumphs of the faith, as well as of the spiritual heights and moral blunders of its people. Robinson’s intention is to introduce Christianity through its story and through those who lived it.

What Christians Believe written by Anna Wierzbicka and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-02-28 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.
Many people today, both Christians and non-Christians, are confused about or unaware of the essentials of Christian faith. In this book, Anna Wierzbicka takes a radically new approach to the task of communicating "what Christians believe" to the widest possible audience. "The Story of God and People," the heart of the book, sets out the core tenets of Christian faith in narrative form using simple language that is accessible to anyone, even those with no familiarity with Christianity or Christian vocabulary. The Story is not only simple but also universal: though written in English, it is not phrased in full English--English as we know it today, shaped by history, culture, and tradition--but in "Minimal English." Minimal English contains only those 400 or so English words that can be translated into any other language; essentially, it corresponds to the shared core of all languages. In the introduction to the book, Wierzbicka explains Minimal English and minimal languages in general, and in "The Story of God and People" that follows, she demonstrates the effectiveness of Minimal English as a tool for global understanding. At the same time, the use of Minimal English allows her not only to retell the Christian story in a strikingly new way, but also to rethink its meaning, bringing into relief its internal cohesion, logic and beauty.

Is Christianity True? is an excellent resource for twenty-first-century Christians and non-Christians who want to investigate the truth-claims of Christianity. This book tackles the most important issues in a clear and compelling way. Part 1 looks at the trustworthiness of the Bible and at Jesus Christ, who claimed to be God incarnate. He verified his claim by his fulfillment of prophecy and his resurrection from the dead. Part 2 shows that the great alternative to Christianity—the belief that there is no God or supernatural realm and that the universe and all that exists do so simply by natural forces—not only is false but is impossible. Part 3 deals with perhaps the greatest challenge to Christianity, the “problem of evil,” i.e., if God is all knowing, all powerful, and all good, then why is there so much evil in the world? The book does not shy away from discussing up-to-date scientific knowledge and shows how this knowledge actually confirms the claims of Christianity. This book is a clear, yet challenging, explanation of the biblical, historical, philosophical, and scientific evidence which shows that, indeed, Christianity is true.

Why Is Christianity So Hard written by Michael F. Annanie and has been published by Elm Hill this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-08-18 with Religion categories.
Christianity is hard. Having faith today is difficult at best. Our faith will be tested by God, Satan, society, our loved ones and ourselves. Why is the gate narrow? Why do we need to share in the sufferings of Christ? Why is evil in the world? Why did you give us free will to choose? Why is the message of the Gospel foolishness to most people? Doesn’t God want all to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Why is it so hard for us to believe you? Frustrated with the struggles to maintain his faith, the author works through some of the hard questions that Christians will be asked and may have asked themselves. God works through the least likely to accomplish His purpose and will. Written by a soldier for Christ, this book organizes biblical truths to enable the reader to formulate their own beliefs based on the word of God. After years of seeking God through studying, attending and leading classes, the author presents what the Bible says about key issues in the believers walk of faith. “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith” (1 John 5:4 NKJV).
