Seminar paper from the year 2020 in the subject Business economics - Investment and Finance, grade: 1.3, Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, language: English, abstract: This systematic literature review (SLR) aims to explore the perception of the establishment of the European Capital Markets Union (CMU) in literature. After the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) and the Euro debt crisis lead to a recession, the task of the CMU is to stimulate the European economy, strengthen European financial integration while presenting the EU as a competitive counterpart to other global financial markets. Being part of the financial markets, Capital Markets (CMs) play an important role for financial market-oriented economies. Therefore, this paper will discuss what benefits the CMU can offer in particular for small and medium sized companies (SMEs) in terms of diversifying their funding sources in other words an increase of market-based financing.

Capital Markets will look very different in 2020 than they do today. Based on feedback from PwC clients, many have gloomily predicted a shrinking capital markets landscape, over-regulation and the fall of traditionally powerful financial centers such as London and New York. However, we have a different vision for 2020 – one of a New Equilibrium. This New Equilibrium consists of: government intervention receding (as memories of the financial and sovereign debt crises fade), traditional financial axis of power further solidifying their positions at the top, and the world seeking stability and predictability in the context of riskier and more uncertain geopolitical situations. In addition, much of the landscape where financial institutions operate will change significantly. This change will come from economic and government policies, from innovation, operational restructuring, technology, from smarter and more demanding clients, companies harnessing powerful data, and from continued growth of the shadow banking system.

China S Capital Markets written by Kam C. Chan and has been published by Edward Elgar Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Business & Economics categories.

China's accession agreements to the World Trade Organization promised to open up the financial sector to foreign competition by the end of 2006, affording a wealth of opportunities for domestic and international investors. However, there also exist inherent risks and challenges, including inefficient financial markets, inadequate and fast-changing regulations, excessive governmental influence, and lack of transparency in accounting and corporate governance. The contributors to this book explore these perplexing and intertwined issues as they systematically document and analyze the capital market's development in association with the banking system and legal framework. China's economy has been growing rapidly since the late 1970s and is expected to maintain this momentum in the foreseeable future. Coupled with the biggest population in the world, there is tremendous growth potential for China's capital markets and financial services industry, both vital to the continued development of the economy. The contributors present research on all facets of China's markets including: stock and bond markets; futures and over-the-counter markets; regulatory issues; and the development and roles of financial institutions such as brokerage firms, banks and insurance companies. Also addressed are the recent performance of equity markets, the emergence of small and medium enterprises, and the state banks' bids to be listed in overseas stock exchanges. Taken together, the book sheds a welcome light on China's overall economic growth. This comprehensive look at the future of China's economy will be of great value to students and scholars of China. Investors and policymakers will also find it of great practical use.

This outstanding collection of Michael Brennan's writing spans almost thirty years and reflects the rapid development and growing importance of the field of finance over this period. The papers cover corporate finance, option pricing and derivative markets, international finance and the role of information in financial markets. The chapters on corporate finance include Brennan's seminal 1970 paper on the effects of personal taxation on financial market equilibrium, an analysis of consistency in utility rate regulation and the classic piece on the application of options analysis to natural resource investments. The chapters on option pricing range from the earliest analysis of the American put option to a synthesis of methods of valuing derivatives, portfolio insurance and the effect of derivatives on trading volume and welfare. More recent papers include empirical asset pricing studies and an innovative proposal to strip the dividends from the S&P500 portfolio. Michael Brennan has been at the forefront of recent developments in financial economics and financial management and this collection of his work will be warmly welcomed by those working in finance, monetary economics, banking and financial sector research.
