""It is essential for classroom teachers to be reflective. It is critical that they be aware of their own biases and prejudices. Larrivee does an excellent job of gently guiding the teacher through a look at his/her past. The first chapter creates a comfort zone with which the teacher continues to look at his/her past and consequently at his/her treatment of children."" Dr. Patricia A. Pintar, St. Mary-of-the-Woods College "Authentic Classroom Management" addresses the basics of classroom management by narrowing the gap between theory and practice to provide realistic and collaborative management options. This easy-to-read, practical text presents a broad theoretical background while focusing on the belief that effective classroom management requires careful preparation and goes beyond learning discrete skills. The text promotes a multi-dimensional and reflective perspective for managing classrooms that will prepare prospective and in-service teachers to successfully manage today's diverse classrooms. Highlighting a comprehensive range of strategies and philosophies, the text encourages alternative ways to support positive classroom behaviors. Its many exercises offer opportunity for skill development through reflection and self-questioning, emphasizing proactive ways of interacting with students to create and sustain a supportive learning community. Handbook Of Classroom Management written by Carolyn M. Evertson and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-10-31 with Education categories.

Classroom management is a topic of enduring concern for teachers, administrators, and the public. It consistently ranks as the first or second most serious educational problem in the eyes of the general public, and beginning teachers consistently rank it as their most pressing concern during their early teaching years. Management problems continue to be a major cause of teacher burnout and job dissatisfaction. Strangely, despite this enduring concern on the part of educators and the public, few researchers have chosen to focus on classroom management or to identify themselves with this critical field. The Handbook of Classroom Management has four primary goals: 1) to clarify the term classroom management; 2) to demonstrate to scholars and practitioners that there is a distinct body of knowledge that directly addresses teachers’ managerial tasks; 3) to bring together disparate lines of research and encourage conversations across different areas of inquiry; and 4) to promote a vigorous agenda for future research in this area. To this end, 47 chapters have been organized into 10 sections, each chapter written by a recognized expert in that area. Cutting across the sections and chapters are the following themes: *First, positive teacher-student relationships are seen as the very core of effective classroom management. *Second, classroom management is viewed as a social and moral curriculum. *Third, external reward and punishment strategies are not seen as optimal for promoting academic and social-emotional growth and self-regulated behavior. *Fourth, to create orderly, productive environments teachers must take into account student characteristics such as age, developmental level, race, ethnicity, cultural background, socioeconomic status, and ableness. Like other research handbooks, the Handbook of Classroom Management provides an indispensable reference volume for scholars, teacher educators, in-service practitioners, and the academic libraries serving these audiences. It is also appropriate for graduate courses wholly or partly devoted to the study of classroom management.

Rethink traditional classroom norms and create spaces where every student feels they belong and can succeed. In this insightful and practical book, educator Sheldon L. Eakins sheds light on a pressing but often overlooked challenge in today's education system: the cultural disconnect between classroom norms and the diverse backgrounds of students. With a blend of analysis and hands-on teaching strategies, Eakins deftly explores the intersection of classroom management and students' cultures. Meaningful Classroom Management will help teachers to • Reflect on classroom dynamics and find ways to balance individual work with group activities. • Rethink classroom management as the process of building a supportive community rather than enforcing rules and compliance. • Master classroom observation with a practical and useful framework. • Incorporate specific teaching techniques such as project-based learning, storytelling, and gamification to make your classroom a more collaborative and engaging space. • Boost learning with peer assessments that reinforce collaboration and community. • Build relationships through empathy. The ultimate goal is "adaptive teaching," where educators create learning spaces that support all students, appreciate their perspectives, and allow them to thrive. Packed with real-world examples, practical tools, and reflective prompts, Meaningful Classroom Management provides the boost educators need to create inclusive classrooms that value every student.
